Ted Bulling of Nebraska Wesleyan University has been named the 1999 NCAA Division III Central Region Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. The United States Track Coaches Association and Mondo Surfacing selects and presents the award annually to a top coach in each of the eight NCAA Division III men's cross country regions. Bulling, who recently completed his 10th season as head coach of the Plainsmen, guided Nebraska Wesleyan University to an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championship held Nov. 20 in Winneconne, Wis. The Plainsmen scored 259 points to record their highest finish at the NCAA Division III Championship in school annals. They also had two All-Americans at the event. Nebraska Wesleyan University qualified as a team entrant for the NCAA Division III Championship by winning the 25-team Central Regional held Nov. 13. The Plainsmen placed three runners in the top four individual finishes at the Central Regional to win the meet by five points over second-place St. John's University (Minn.). In addition to its title at the NCAA Division III Central Regional, Nebraska Wesleyan University also won the Dean White Invitational, Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational and the Nebraska-Iowa Athletic Conference Championship during the 1999 season. Bulling, who has guided Nebraska Wesleyan University to three consecutive appearances at the NCAA Division III Championship as a team entrant, is a 1980 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University.
