University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Tyler Sigl recorded
his second straight 10,000-meter run title Thursday (May
22) as he lunged at the finish line to get the win over
Wartburg College's (Iowa) Kevin Balster at the NCAA Division
III Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Sigl broke his
own J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium record with a winning
time of 30:34.51 while Balster finished in second place
at 30:34.53.
William Kaul of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh finished
in third place in a time of 30:35.59, while Hany Abdallah
of New York University was in fourth place in a time of
30:37.26 and Jed Christiansen of Calvin College (Mich.)
tallied a fifth-place mark of 30:37.95. Kaul and Abdallah
also earned All-America honors last season.
Wheaton College's (Ill.) Brandon Mull recorded a sixth-place
performance in a time of 30:38.31, followed by State University
of New York-Cortland's Seth DuBois in seventh place in a
time of 30:43.59 and St. John's University's (Minn.) Kelly
Fermoyle in eighth place in a time of 30:46.51. Mull tallied
a ninth-place mark and DuBois had a tenth-place performance
a year ago.
