Men's 3,000 Meter-Steeplechase

Hamilton College's (N.Y.) Peter Kosgei took the lead at the start of the 3,000-meter steeplechase and never relinquished it as he won his second straight national title. He broke his own J.J. Keller at Titan Stadium record with a winning time of 8:55.19. Kosgei entered the meet with the top qualifying time and broke his own record of 8:55.41 set last season at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

St. John's University's (Minn.) Chris Erichsen and Tufts University's (Mass.) Dave Sorensen each repeated with All-America honors Friday (May 23). Erichsen finished runner-up for the second straight year behind Kosgei with a time of 9:03.02 while Sorensen captured third place in a time of 9:03.53. Sorensen finished in sixth place last season.

State University of New York-Cortland's Kyle O'Brien captured fourth place in a time of 9:08.86 while Elmhurst College (Ill.) senior Mike Ptack crossed the finish line in a fifth-place time of 9:09.19.

Also earning All-America accolades were Augustana College's (Ill.) Brad Holehan who finished in a sixth-place time of 9:09.22, University of Wisconsin-River Falls' Jason Phillippi in seventh place in a time of 9:11.08 and University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Cameron Klein in a eighth-place mark of 9:11.13.
