
Stephen Burns won a tie-breaker to capture
the men's javelin throw with a distance of 207-10 on Saturday
(May 24) at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field
Championship.
The Rochester Institute of Technology (N.Y.)
national champion took the title after having a better second
toss than Concordia University's (Wis.) Brock Solveson,
who also recorded a mark of 207-10.
Drew Soltysiak of Westfield State College
(Mass.) took third place with a heave of 206-11, while Kory
Kemp of Whitworth University (Wash.) came in fourth place
at 206-1.
Trinity University's (Texas) Chris Baer
threw the javelin 205-2 to earn fifth place, followed by
the sixth-place mark of 200-5 from Emory University's (Ga.)
Jake Wheeler.
Rounding out the top-eight finishers were
Grant Piros of Willamette University (Ore.) in seventh place
at 193-10 and Whitworth University's Alexander Hymel in
the eighth position with a mark of 193-1.
