Men's Shot Put

Mount Union College (Ohio) took three All-American spots as Dan Gund captured the men's shot put crown on Saturday (May 24) with a launch of 57-2 3/4 at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championship.

Judd Lutz took third and Matt Dawson eighth for Mount Union College, which won the shot put title for the second straight year.  Lutz tossed the shot put 54-2 1/2 while Dawson recorded a distance of 52-11.

Nathan Turner of Bridgewater College (Va.) took second place with a heave of 54-6 1/2, followed by Jeff Kintner of Whitworth University (Wash.) in fourth at 53-11.

Fifth place went to Eugene Asimou of Montclair State University (N.J.) at 53-9 and sixth to State University of New York-Brockport's Josh Dupuis with a toss of 53-3 1/2.  Joseph Awantang of Haverford College (Pa.) earned seventh place with a distance of 53-1 3/4.
