
In one of the most exciting races of the championship, it took the entire 25 laps to decide a winner in the women’s 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Thursday (May 22).
Case Western Reserve University's (Ohio) Esther Erb and Keene State College's (N.H.) Jennifer Adams battled tooth and nail throughout the race. Erb passed Adams down the home stretch to eke out a .41 second win finishing in a time of 35:45.01 compared to a time of 35:45.41.
University of Wisconsin-River Falls' Becca Jordahl took third-place in a time of 35:48.01, while a pair of runners who ended in the top-15 last spring, Middlebury College’s (Vt.) Alexandra Kreig and State University New York-Plattsburgh’s Alyssa Recny, rounded out the top-five in times of 35:54.09 and 35:55.61, respectively.
The remaining All-American spots went to Jenny Scherer of St. Norbert College (Wis.) in a sixth-place time of 36:00.29, Erin Fischer of Elizabethtown College (Pa.) in a seventh-place time of 36:00.52 and Gwen Kemple of Anderson University (Ind.) in an eighth-place time of 36:01.11.
