2008 Women's Event Recap

Women's 100-Meter Hurdles

Much like her name indicates, Frostburg State University (Md.) sophomore Sumer Rohrs “"roared"” through the competition all weekend in the women's 100-meter hurdles at the 2008 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Just two days removed from setting a NCAA Division III season's best and J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium record in the preliminaries, Rohrs, ending in 13.68 seconds, defeated the field in the finals by .30 of a second for the national title. UW-Eau Claire senior Liz Faller was second in 13.98 seconds.

Rounding out the top five, Nebraska Wesleyan University senior Holly Andrews, a repeat All-American, was third (14.10), Messiah College (Pa.) sophomore Kristen Bates took fourth (14.24), and Monmouth College (Ill.) junior Shannon Turczyn, also a repeat All-American, was fifth in 14.24.
