2008 Women's Event Recap

Women's 1,500-Meter Run

Adding to an already large closet full of awards, UW-Platteville senior Marcia Taddy closed her remarkable career standing at the top of the podium in the women's 1500-meter run at the 2008 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Taddy successfully defended her 2007 championship, pulling away from the pack early along with Tufts University (Mass.) senior Catherine Beck. The two stayed close throughout the final two laps with Taddy winning at the end in 4:23.36. Her time was a NCAA Division III season's best and J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium record.

Beck, a repeat All-American after taking fourth in 2007, finished in 4:24.97. Bethel University (Minn.) sophomore Marie Borner was third (4:27.52), while UW-Oshkosh junior Ayla Mitchell took fourth in 4:29.10. DePauw University (Ind.) sophomore Lauren Reich rounded out the top five in 4:29.17.
