2008 Women's Event Recap

Women's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase

Colby College's (Maine) Anna King made it interesting down the home stretch, but Dickinson College's (Pa.) Caitlin Bradley wouldn’t be denied a national title in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Bradley, leading throughout, saw King in her rear view mirror with about 100-meters remaining, but a strong kick lifted her to the win. The two returning top five finishers from 2007 ended in 10:22.60 and 10:27.56, respectively.

Bradley and King led the top five finishers in setting NCAA Division III season’s best times. Trinity University's (Texas) Emily Loeffler finished in third-place in a time of 10:28.31, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges' (Calif.) Evelyn Ross nabbed fourth-place in a time of 10:30.59 and Colby College's Cassandra Knight took fifth-place in a time of 10:32.94.

Rounding out the All-Americans were Elise Tropiano of Amherst College (Mass.) in a sixth-place time of 10:35.78, Cristy Falcone of the University of Mary Washington (Va.) in a seventh-place time of 10:42.01 and Wendy Pavlus of St. Lawrence University (N.Y.) in a time of 10:46.29.
