Women's Javelin

Gustavus Adolphus College's (Minn.) Lisa Brown left little doubt about the outcome of the javelin at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship Saturday (May 24).

Brown threw the top three attempts during the competition with her best effort of 174-5 being a qualifier for the U.S. Olympic Trials. The mark also set a NCAA Division III season's best and J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium record.

Wheaton College's (Ill.) Brandi McNeil ended in second-place with a mark of 162-4 and Messiah College's (Pa.) Amy Reed, the heptathlon champion, took third-place with a distance of 148-4.

Keene State College's (N.H.) Samantha Hirsh was in fourth-position with a heave of 147-0 and Mount Union College's (Ohio) Annie Patton earned fifth-place with a toss of 140-10.

All-American honors continued for Mackenzie Smith of the University of Redlands (Calif.) with a sixth-place result of 138-8, Elisha Jones of Waynesburg University (Pa.) with a seventh-place mark of 138-6 and Mary King of Moravian College (Pa.) with an eighth-place fling of 133-9.
