2008 Women's Event Recap

Women's Long Jump

University of Redlands' (Calif.) Natalie Calderon made sure early there would be little doubt about a repeat national title in the women's long jump at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Calderon recorded the best jump of the first flight and never looked back en route to the successful defense of her national title. Her best effort of 19-11 came on her second try and bettered the previous NCAA Division III season's best mark and J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium record.

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's Caitlin Schetter earned a second straight All-American honor in the event, taking second-place with a mark of 19-0 3/4. The Eagles had a big outing in the event with Krista Kopesky taking sixth-place in the field with a jump of 17-11 3/4.

Roanoke College (Va.) had two All-Americans when JaLeesa Osborne grabbed third-place with a distance of 18-4 1/4 and Dominique McCoy took fourth-place with a jump of 18-3 3/4.

Rounding out the All-American performances were Breana Anderson of McMurry University (Texas) with a fifth-place mark of 18-1, Lizzy Stanton of Capital University (Ohio) with a seventh-place jump of 17-11 3/4 and Myra Collins of the University of Chicago (Ill.) with a eighth-place result of 17-11.
