Women's Shot Put

Widener University's (Pa.) Lauren Lucci's second throw made the difference in the women's shot put at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Lucci's toss of 47-4 1/4 gave her the national title Saturday (May 24).

University of Chicago's (Ill.) Nicole Murphy was close in the runner-up slot, ending in second-place by just over eight inches at 46-8.

University of Wisconsin-River Falls' Vicki Cooper, a repeat All-American, took third-place at 46-3 1/4. Luther College's (Iowa) Jessica Jewell ended in fourth-place with a mark of 45-8 and Copper's teammate Krista Hasselquist, also a repeat All-American, grabbed fifth-place with a heave of 45-7 1/4.

Rachael Clark of Christopher Newport University (Va.) captured sixth-place with a toss of 45-3 1/2, Alyssa Pirinelli of St. Lawrence University (N.Y.) took seventh-place with a heave of 45-0 1/4 and Allyson Tobin of Otterbein College (Ohio) grabbed eighth-place with a launch of 44-8 1/4 to round out the All-America performances.
