University of Redlands' (Calif.) Natalie Calderon threw her hat into the growing ring of double-event champions at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
Calderon, adding the triple jump title to her long jump win from Thursday (May 22), used her first two attempts during the finals Saturday (May 24), to claim the top spot. Her best effort of 40-10 1/4 bested the field by a little less than 18 inches and was a NCAA Division III season's best.
State University of New York-Brockport's Shannon O'Keeffe took second-place at 39-4 1/2. Springfield College's (Mass.) Nikki Hay ended in third-place in a distance of 39-3 3/4, while McMurry University (Texas) took fourth and fifth-place with Sheneice Johnson jumping 39-3 and Breana Anderson leaping 39-2, respectively.
Also taking home All-American honors were Appie Hirve of the University of Chicago (Ill.) with a sixth-place distance of 38-6, Selina Dehn of the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) with a seventh-place mark of 38-5 and Caitlin Schetter of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a eighth-place jump of 38-3 1/4.
Anderson took fifth-place in the long jump, while Schetter enjoyed a runner-up finish.
