To Host
NCAA Division III Regional Baseball Tournament
UW-Oshkosh
has been selected to serve as one of eight regional
hosts for the 2008 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
The double-elimination tournament will be held May
14-18 at Oshkosh Norh High School's E.J. Schneider
Field.
The
NCAA will announce the 54 teams for its Division III
Baseball Championship on May 12. Six teams will compete
at five regional sites while eight teams will participate
at three regional sites.
Other
regional tournaments will be held in Abilene, Texas,
Auburn, N.Y., Danville, Va., Harwich, Mass., Moline,
Ill., Newark, N.J., and Terre Haute, Ind.
Winners
of the eight regional tournaments will advance to
the double-elimination championship at Time Warner
Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute,
Wis. That event will be held May 23-27, with UW-Oshkosh
and Lawrence University serving as the host schools.
In
Oshkosh, E.J. Schneider Field will be the site of
its 19th NCAA Division III regional baseball tournament.
The facility was the venue for tournaments held in
1979, 1981-1996 and 1998.
