Titans In The Community

Old Glory Honor Flight

The UW-Oshkosh football program knows the importance of great community support and works to maintain a mutually beneficial partnership. At EAA AirVenture 2010, Titan coaching staff and players assisted 80 World War II veterans in their preparation for the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

The Old Glory Honor Flight is the Northeast Wisconsin hub of the Honor Flight Network. Its mission is to offer World War II veterans a memorable, safe and rewarding tour of honor to the nation’s capital. Veterans depart Wisconsin and return the same day after visiting several sites in Washington D.C., including those dedicated in their honor (Iwo Jima Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery). Flights have one guardian for every two veterans to assist them throughout the day. Medical staff, wheelchairs and meals are provided.

The program plans to continue until every World War II veteran has the opportunity to visit their memorial. The Old Glory Honor Flight began in Northeast Wisconsin in 2009.
