Ebel Voted National Assistant Coach Of The Year
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named UW-Oshkosh's Pat Ebel as its National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field Assistant Coach of the Year.
Ebel, who also serves as the head coach of the UW-Oshkosh women’s track and field team, received the award after his throwers scored 28 of the Titans' 32 points at the NCAA Division III Championship held March 9-10 in Grinnell, Iowa. UW-Oshkosh finished third in the team standings behind champion North Central College (Ill.) and second-place UW-Eau Claire.
In the shot put, Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville) broke his own UW-Oshkosh record with a second-place distance of 59-4 3/4. The Titans also had Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls) finish third with a measurement of 58-1 3/4 and Lewis Prior (Jr. • Coleman) 10th at 52-5 1/2.
During the 35-pound weight throw competition, Baatz finished second with a mark of 65-4 3/4, Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) third at 65-4 1/4 and Baatz ninth at 58-8.
At the WIAC Championship held Feb. 24-25 in Menomonie, Delzer earned the Titans' lone victory with his school-record distance of 67-2 1/4 in the 35-pound weight throw. UW-Oshkosh owned four of the top-eight contestants in the 35-pound weight throw and three of the top-six participants in the shot put.
UW-Oshkosh finished fourth in the team standings with 98.5 points, while UW-La Crosse scored 140 to capture its 11th straight WIAC indoor crown.

Titans Bring Home Third Place From NCAA Indoor Championship

UW-Oshkosh posted four top-three finishes in the throwing events to place third at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship on Friday and Saturday (March 9-10) in Grinnell, Iowa.
North Central College (Ill.) captured the team title with 48 points, while UW-Eau Claire tallied 37 for second and the Titans 32 for third. This was the seventh consecutive season that UW-Oshkosh finished in the top four.
Seven WIAC schools placed in the top-12, including fourth-place UW-Stout (28 points) and fifth-place UW-La Crosse (27). The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) shared fifth place with 27 points.
The Titans got 28 of their points in the shot put and weight throw, including 14 from Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls). Last year’s weight throw champion, Delzer placed second with a mark of 65-4 3/4. He then ranked third in the shot put with a distance of 58-1 3/4.
While Delzer was just three inches short of Tyler Genovese’s (UW-Eau Claire) winning weight throw, Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) followed in third place at 65-4 1/4. UW-Oshkosh’s other top performance was a second-place shot put of 59-4 3/4 by Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville), who established a new school record.
Scoring the final four points, the 1,600-meter relay team of Brian Beaudo (Fr. • Fort Atkinson), John Cejka (Jr. • Wausau), Corey Wilch (So. • Waukesha) and Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello) finished in 3:19.72 for fifth place.
UW-Oshkosh also had Baatz record a ninth-place standing (58-8) in the weight throw and Lewis Prior (Jr. • Coleman) list 10th in the shot put at 52-5 1/2. Alan German (Sr. • West Bend) competed in the 60-meter hurdles and notched a preliminary time of 8.66.
Donald Klitz (Jr. • Markesan) took part in both the high jump and triple jump. His triple jump score of 46-7 1/4 stood ninth, while his high jump of 6-6 3/4 came in 11th. |
Throwers Lead Titans At Day One Of NCAA Indoor Championship
Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls) and Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) finished in the top-three of the weight throw during UW-Oshkosh’s first day (March 9) at the NCAA Division III Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship in Grinnell, Iowa.
Just three inches short of victory, Delzer earned second place with his weight throw of 65-4 3/4. Ludtke posted a 65-4 1/4 for third place, while teammate Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville) finished ninth at 58-8. UW-Eau Claire’s Tyler Genovese won the event with his hurl of 65-7 3/4.
In the team standings, North Central College (Ill.) owns 24 points for the lead. UW-Eau Claire lists second at 15, UW-Oshkosh third at 14 and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater share fourth place with 11 points.
Alan German (Sr. • West Bend) was the other Titan competing individually. His 60-meter hurdles time of 8.66 failed to qualify for the finals.

Delzer, Ebel Gain All-Region Honors
 Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls) received Men's Field Athlete of the Year and Pat Ebel Men's Assistant Coach of the Year in the NCAA Division III Midwest Region awards from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Delzer owns the top weight throw in the nation this year at 67-2 1/4. That mark was a new school record and earned him the WIAC title. Delzer also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship in the shot put with his sixth-ranked distance of 56-10 1/4. He posted a shot put of 56-2 for third place at the league meet.
During the 2011 season, Delzer won the national title with his weight throw of 64-3 3/4. He also listed seventh in the shot put at 52-7 1/4.
Brandon Houle, who received the award in 2006 and 2007, is the other Titan to take Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year.
With an expertise in throwing events, Ebel guided UW-Oshkosh to six entries at the NCAA Division III Championship. Along with the top-seeded Delzer, Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) ranks second and Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville) 12th in the weight throw. Titans Aim For Another High Finish At NCAA Indoor Championship
UW-Oshkosh will have six of its 10 entries in the throwing events when it competes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship on Friday and Saturday (March 9-10) in Grinnell, Iowa.
Competition from Grinnell College's Bear Recreation and Athletic Center begins Friday at 8:45 a.m. On Saturday, events start at 9 a.m. The meet features 15 events, with the top eight finishers in each event earning All-America status. The top four teams collect a trophy.
Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville) and Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls) will both compete in two throwing events for the Titans. Baatz is seeded third in the shot put with a distance of 59-0 and 12th in the 35-pound weight throw with a measurement of 61-2. He finished third in the shot put at last year's championship with a mark of 54-9 1/4.
Delzer is the top seed in the 35-pound weight throw at 67-2 1/4. He won last year's competition with a distance of 64-3 3/4. In the shot put, Delzer is seeded sixth with a season-best toss of 56-10 1/4. He finished seventh at last year's meet with a mark of 52-7 1/4.
UW-Oshkosh also has Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) seeded second in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 66-5 and Lewis Prior (Jr. • Coleman) 12th in the shot put with a figure of 53-11 3/4. Ludtke placed fourth in the 35-pound weight throw at last year's meet with a mark of 63-5. UW-La Crosse's Andy Novak is ranked first in the shot put for this weekend's meet with a distance of 60-8.
In the field, Donald Klitz (Jr. • Markesan) qualified for both the high jump and triple jump. He is seeded fifth in the high jump with a leap of 6-10 1/4 and 10th in the triple jump with a skip of 48-6 1/4. Earning top seeds are Wartburg College's (Iowa) Jonas Elusme in the high jump with a height of 6-11 and UW-La Crosse's Isaac Vazquez in the triple jump with a distance of 50-6 1/4.
The final Titan competing individually is Alan German (Sr. • West Bend). German is ranked 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.23. Austin Curbow of Otterbein University (Ohio) is seeded first with a time of 7.98.
UW-Oshkosh also earned a qualifying spot in the 1,600-meter relay. The group of
Brian Beaudo (Fr. • Fort Atkinson), John Cejka (Jr. • Wausau), Corey Wilch (So. • Waukesha) and Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello) is seeded eighth with a time of 3:18.18. North Central College (Ill.) is the event’s top seed at 3:16.62.
UW-Oshkosh has finished in the top four at the past six NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Last year’s meet was extremely close with North Central College taking first with 45 points, Central College (Iowa) second with 44, UW-La Crosse third with 43 and UW-Oshkosh fourth with 42. After sharing the 2009 national title with UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh finished fourth in the country in 2010.
With 10 entries, UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse share the most for this weekend's championship. North Central College follows with nine entries, UW-Eau Claire eight and both UW-Whitewater and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) seven each. UW-La Crosse enters the meet ranked first in the NCAA Division III by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, North Central College second, UW-Oshkosh third, McMurry University (Texas) fourth and UW-Eau Claire fifth.

Titans Compete At Last Chance Qualifiers
   With hope of improving their best effort of the season, members of the UW-Oshkosh men's track and field team competed at three Last Chance Qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship this past weekend.
UW-Oshkosh was represented at the North Central College Qualifier held Thursday and Friday (March 1-2) in Naperville, Ill., the University of Wisconsin Qualifier held Friday (March 2) in Madison and the UW-Stevens Point Qualifier held Saturday (March 3) in Stevens Point.
At the North Central College Qualifier, John Dewitt (Jr. • Oshkosh) finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:47.04. He was the Titans' lone participant at the meet.
At the University of Wisconsin Qualifier, UW-Oshkosh's Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls) placed second in the 35-pound weight throw with distance of 66-1 and fourth in the shot put with a mark of 56-10 1/4. Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) finished third in the 35-pound weight throw with a measurement of 66-0 1/4, while Lewis Prior (Jr. • Coleman) placed fourth in the 35-pound weight throw and fifth in the shot put with marks of 60-6 1/2 and 52-10 3/4, respectively.
In the long jump, the Titans' Ryan Sprenger (So. • Larsen) finished eighth with a leap of 21-1 1/2. Alan German (Sr. • West Bend) added a sixth-place time of 8.33 in the 60-meter hurdles.
At the UW-Stevens Point Qualifier, UW-Oshkosh collected third-place finishes from Prior in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 59-10 1/2 and John McCann (So.• Elroy) in the high jump with a leap of 6-8. John Cejka (Jr. • Wausau) took fourth in the 400-meter run with a time of 49.54.
The Titans also received a fourth-place finish from their 1,600-meter relay team. The group of Cejka, Brian Beaudo (Fr. • Fort Atkinson), Corey Wilch (So. • Waukesha) and Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello) ran to a time of 3:18.18.
Placing fifth for UW-Oshkosh was Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello) in the 400-meter run with a time of 49.58.
UW-Oshkosh will send several athletes to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship on March 9-10 in Grinnell, Iowa. Competitors for the meet will be announced on Tuesday (March 6).

Delzer's Victory Helps Titans Finish Fourth At WIAC Indoor Championship

Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls) set a school record with his winning distance in the 35-pound weight throw as UW-Oshkosh finished fourth at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 24-25) in Menomonie.
UW-La Crosse tallied 140 points to earn its 11th straight team title and 37th overall. UW-Whitewater placed second in the nine-team meet with 108.5 points, UW-Eau Claire third with 108, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 98.5, UW-Platteville fifth with 78, UW-Stout sixth with 63, UW-Stevens Point seventh with 52, UW-River Falls eighth with 50 and UW-Superior ninth with four. The Titans have now finished in the top four at every WIAC Indoor Championship held since 1988.
Delzer won the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 67-2 1/4. His effort broke the previous school mark of 66-5 that Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) established last month. Ludtke finished second behind Delzer at the championship with a measurement of 65-11 1/2.
More UW-Oshkosh scoring came in the shot put, with Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville) placing second and Delzer third with distances of 59-0 and 56-2, respectively. Donald Klitz (Jr. • Markesan) contributed another second-place finish with his leap of 6-10 1/4 in the high jump.
The Titans got four third-place results on the track as John Cejka (Jr. • Wausau) completed 400 meters in 49.23, Tyler Morey (Sr. • Combined Locks) 3,000 meters in 8:34.38 and John Dewitt (Jr. • Oshkosh) 5,000 meters in 14:51.37. During the 800-meter run, Brett DeNure (Jr. • Monroe) crossed the line third in 1:55.54 and Matt Lawrence (So. • Plainfield, Ill.) fourth in 1:56.30.
Fourth-place listings went to Klitz in the triple jump with a skip of 48-6 1/4 and the Titans' 800- and 1,600-meter relay teams. Running on the 800-meter relay team that posted a time of 1:30.45 were Cejka, Quentin Badger (So. • Madison), Ryan Sprenger (So. • Larsen) and Collin Worm (Fr. • Menasha). Members of the 1,600-meter relay squad that marked a time of 3:20.83 were Cejka, Brian Beaudo (Fr. • Fort Atkinson), Corey Wilch (So. • Waukesha) and Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello).
Alan German (Sr. • West Bend) contributed a pair of top seven finishes with his fifth-place leap of 22-8 in the long jump and seventh-place time of 8.42 in the 60-meter hurdles. Lewis Prior (Jr. • Coleman) had two efforts in the top eight finishes as he placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 52-6 and eighth in the 35-pound weight throw with a mark of 59-11 3/4.
The Titans also had Baatz finish sixth in the 35-pound weight throw with a measurement of 61-2 and Dewitt eighth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:42.37.

Titans To Battle For WIAC Indoor Track & Field Title
UW-Oshkosh is listed among the top contenders for the team title at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship that will be held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 24-25) in Menomonie. The meet begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday at UW-Stout's Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Titans, who have finished in the top four at the WIAC Indoor Championship every year since 1988, placed second at last year's meet with 138 points. UW-Oshkosh has won five WIAC indoor titles, with the most recent victory in 2001.
Last year, UW-La Crosse scored 165.5 points to claim its 10th straight WIAC indoor title and 36th in school history. UW-Whitewater finished third with 102.5 points, while UW-Eau Claire placed fourth with 83.5, UW-Platteville fifth with 69.5, UW-Stevens Point sixth with 63, UW-Stout seventh with 46, UW-River Falls eighth with 33.5 and UW-Superior ninth with .5.
This year's meet includes seven of the best track and field teams in the country, including second-ranked UW-La Crosse, third-ranked UW-Oshkosh and fourth-ranked UW-Whitewater. The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll of NCAA Division III squads also had UW-Stout ranked 10th, UW-Platteville 11th, UW-River Falls 21st and UW-Stevens Point 25th.
Returning to this year's championship are 14 athletes who have combined to win 19 event titles. The group includes UW-Oshkosh's Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) as the 2010 and 2011 champion in the 35-pound weight throw and Quentin Badger (So. • Madison) as the 2011 champion in the 200-meter dash. Ludtke could become the first individual in WIAC history to win the 20-pound weight throw three straight seasons
UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater both return three former champions. The Eagles own defending champions Andy Novak in the shot put, Dave Pergande in the pole vault and Isaac Vazquez in the long jump, while the Warhawks possess Travis Morehouse in the high jump and Marcus Smith in the triple jump. UW-Whitewater's Luke Buchholz won the high jump in 2010.
UW-Platteville returns two-time defending champion Patrick Klein in the one-mile run and Aaron Loferski in the 55-meter hurdles, while UW-Stevens Point returns defending champion Brian Thill in the pentathlon (the heptathlon will replace the pentathlon this year). The Pointers also return Keith Ingram who won titles in the 55-meter dash in 2009 and 2010 and captured the 200-meter dash crown in 2009.
Other defending champions back are UW-Eau Claire's Tom Breitbach in the 5,000-meter run and UW-Stout's Daniel Drewak in the pole vault. Drewak also won the pole vault in 2009.
UW-Oshkosh is also expected to compete for the 1,600-meter relay title. Titans returning from last year's first-place squad are John Cejka (Jr. • Wausau) and Corey Wilch (So. • Waukesha).
After the WIAC Indoor Championship, UW-Oshkosh will participate at last chance qualifiers in Madison and Stevens Point before competing at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship on March 9-10 in Grinnell, Iowa.

Titans Hang On To Win Eastbay Invitational
   Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville), Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) and Tyler Morey (Sr. • Combined Locks) scored first-place finishes to give UW-Oshkosh the Eastbay Men’s Track and Field Invitational title on Saturday (Feb. 18) in Stevens Point.
The Titans marked 116.5 points to clip second-place UW-Whitewater’s 113. UW-Stevens Point compiled 97 points for third, while UW-Eau Claire earned fourth at 58 and UW-Stout fifth at 54. A total of 15 teams competed in the meet.
Baatz posted a shot put of 57-5 3/4 to lead all his rivals. UW-Oshkosh gained more solid scoring with Pete Delzer’s (Jr. • Oconto Falls) second-place toss of 54-7 1/4 and Lewis Prior’s (Jr. • Coleman) third-place mark of 52-8 1/4.
In the weight throw, Ludtke booked a 65-5 for the victory. Morey then took the mile run with a time of 4:18.97. Teammate John Block (So. • Madison) was right behind Morey with his 4:21.16.
Other second-place listings came from Alan German (Sr. • West Bend) and John McCann (So. • Elroy). German completed the 60-meter hurdles in 8.42, while McCann cleared 6-8 1/4 on the high jump. Delzer also added a weight throw of 65-0 1/2 for third place.
Zachary Adams (So. • Lake Geneva) and John Cejka (Jr. • Wausau) each contributed a finish of fourth to close the results. Adams clocked a 15:39.64 in the 5,000-meter run and Cejka needed just 22.53 for the 200-meter dash.

Four Titans Run At Iowa State University Classic
UW-Oshkosh's John Cejka (Jr. • Wausau) and Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello) finished within a second of each other in the 400-meter run at the Iowa State University Men's Track and Field Classic held Thursday through Saturday (Feb. 9-11) in Ames, Iowa.
Cejka clocked a time of 49.01 seconds for 21st place, while Zanoya was just 0.07 behind with his 22nd-place time of 49.08. Cejka won his five-man heat, while Zanoya placed third among his four other competitors.
Mississippi State University's Tavaris Tate won the 400-meter run with a time of 46.68 seconds. Cass Brown of Steven F. Austin University (Texas) finished second in the race of 47 contestants with a time of 46.98, Daundre Barnaby of Mississippi State University third at 47.38, Brett Wright of Drake University (Iowa) fourth in 48.04 and Brady Hammon of the University of Wisconsin fifth in 48.06.

also competed in the 1,600-meter relay. Cejka and Zanoya joined Brian Beaudo (Fr. • Fort Atkinson) and Corey Wilch (So. • Waukesha) to clock a 14th-place time of 3:16.30.
Mississippi State University captured the relay, posting a time of 3:07.75 to defeat 32 other squads. The University of Nebraska finished second at 3:08.88, followed by the University of Minnesota at 3:09.00, Steven F. Austin University at 3:10.00 and the University of Wisconsin at 3:10.56.
UW-Oshkosh takes part in the Eastbay Invitational next Saturday (Feb. 18) in Stevens Point.

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has named UW-Oshkosh's Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) as one of its two Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week award winners.
Ludtke earned the league's top field citation for his effort in meets held Jan. 23-29. UW-La Crosse's Aric Hoeschen received the conference's top award on the track.
Ludtke won the 35-pound weight throw with a school-record performance as UW-Oshkosh dominated Lawrence University and Ripon College on Jan. 27 in Oshkosh.
Ludtke defeated 15 other contestants in the 35-pound weight throw with his distance of 66-5. His mark, the second best in NCAA Division III history, surpassed the previous school record of 64-11 1/2 set by Brandon Houle in 2007. UW-Oshkosh’s Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls) finished second to Ludtke with a measurement of 64-9 3/4.

Baatz, Ludtke Set School Records At UW-Oshkosh Open
   Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville) and Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) set school records as UW-Oshkosh dominated Lawrence University and Ripon College in a men's track and field meet held Friday (Jan. 27) in Kolf Sports Center.
The Titans finished first in 12 events and won the UW-Oshkosh Open with 90 points. Ripon College placed second with 35 points and Lawrence University third with 18.
Baatz took first place in the shot put with a distance of 58-10. His throw surpassed the previous school record of 58-8 set by Dave McLaren in 1994.
Ludtke was the winner in the 35-pound weight throw with a measurement of 66-5. His toss, the second best in NCAA Division III history, eclipsed the previous school mark of 64-11 1/2 set by Brandon Houle in 2007.
Alan German (Sr. • West Bend) was the lone UW-Oshkosh performer to win two events. He won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.51 and the long jump with a leap of 21-8.
On the track, UW-Oshkosh had Collin Worm (Fr. • Menasha) win the 60-meter dash at 7.03, Ryan Sprenger (So. • Larsen) the 200-meter dash at 22.81, Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello) the 400-meter run at 49.48, Matt Lawrence (So. • Plainfield, Ill.) the 800-meter run at 1:55.96 and Jordan Carpenter (Fr. • Ashwaubenon) the mile run at 4:32.21.
In the jumps, UW-Oshkosh collected winning efforts from Donald Klitz (Jr. • Markesan) and Jason Ulman (Jr. • Appleton). Klitz skipped 46-4 in the triple jump while Ulman leaped 6-2 in the high jump.
UW-Oshkosh received second-place finishes on the track from Quentin Badger (So. • Madison) in the 60-meter dash (7.04), Ryan Fosler (Sr. • DeForest) in the 200-meter dash (23.78) and 60-meter hurdles (8.55), John Cejka (Jr. • Wausau) in the 400-meter run (49.83), Brett DeNure (Jr. • Monroe) in the 800-meter run (1:55.99) and Derek Johnsrud (So. • Fall River) in the mile run (4:36.96).
Other second-place listings belonged to the Titans' John McCann (So. • Elroy) in the high jump (6-0), Tom O'Connor (Sr. • Clintonville) in the pole vault (13-6 1/4), Lee Robinson (Fr. • Racine) in the long jump (21-2 1/2), Jake Dickmann (Jr. • Kewaskum) in the heptathlon (4,107) and Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls) in both the shot put (53-3 1/2) and the 35-pound weight throw (64-9 3/4).
Finishing third for UW-Oshkosh were Lewis Prior (Jr. • Coleman) in both the shot put (51-9) and 35-pound weight throw (60-6 1/2), Klitz in the long jump (20-7 1/4), Sprenger in the 60-meter dash (7.14), Brian Beaudo (Fr. • Fort Atkinson) in the 400-meter dash (50.50), Adam Krumberger (So. • Poynette) in the high jump (6-0), Brian Peterson (Sr. • Toluca, Ill.) in the 800-meter run (1:57.19) and Adam Ruiz (Fr. • New Berlin) in the pole vault (13-0 1/4).

Titans List Second At Cardinal Opener
   Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville) took first place in the shot put and third in the weight throw as the UW-Oshkosh men's track and field team finished second at the North Central College Cardinal Opener on Friday (Jan. 20) in Naperville, Ill.
Host North Central College easily captured the team title with 332 points, while UW-Oshkosh tallied 125, Benedictine University (Ill.) scored 51 for third and Emory University (Ga.) 40 for fourth.
UW-Oshkosh participated in just one track event, and Nate Stymiest (Sr. • Oconto Falls) won that 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:45.43. The majority of Titan points came from the throwing events, where Baatz launched the shot put 57-0 1/4 and the weight throw 58-1 1/4.
Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) earned first place in the weight throw with a mark of 64-0 1/2. He was just ahead of teammate Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls), who placed second at 60-9 1/4. Donald Klitz (Jr. • Markesan) accounted for UW-Oshkosh’s final victory with his triple jump of 46-6 1/4.
Titans occupied four of the top five spots in the shot put. Following Baatz, Lewis Prior (Jr. • Coleman) took second with a distance of 53-11 3/4, Delzer third at 52-11 and Jeremy Brandt (So. • Wausau) fifth at 49-5. John McCann (So. • Elroy) later high-jumped 6-3 1/4 for a second-place result.
The 3,000-meter run also had four Titans in the top-five. John Dewitt (Jr. • Oshkosh) crossed the line third at 8:49.43, along with fourth-place Tyler Morey (Sr. • Combined Locks) at 8:50.85 and fifth-place Brian Peterson (Sr. • Toluca, Ill.) in a time of 8:54.64.
Jake Dickmann (Jr. • Kewaskum) cleared 14-1 1/4 to stand fourth on the pole vault, while Tom O'Connor (Sr. • Clintonville) finished fifth at 13-7 1/4. The remaining fifth-place scores came from Klitz’s high jump of 6-3 1/4 and Lewis Prior’s (Jr. • Coleman) weight throw of 56-4 1/2.

Titans Oust Maroons In Season Opener
  UW-Oshkosh had the winner in 11-of-14 events to dominate its own men’s track and field open on Saturday (Jan. 14) in Kolf Sports Center. The Titans prevailed, 87-47, over the University of Chicago (Ill.) in the team scoring.
Alan German (Sr. • West Bend) counted two of those victories in the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. German crossed the line first after 8.47 seconds in the hurdles, while reaching 22-1 3/4 in the long jump.
With the pole vault, Jake Dickmann (Jr. • Kewaskum) and Tom O'Connor (Sr. • Clintonville) tied for first place with a height of 14-0 1/4. The Titans continued their field brilliance, as Donald Klitz (Jr. • Markesan) took the high jump at 6-4 3/4, Nick Baatz won the shot put at 57-1 1/2 and Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) captured the weight throw at 61-1.
Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello) listed first in the 400-meter dash with his time of 49.81 seconds. He later contributed to a winning 3:24.38 in the 1,600-meter relay with teammates Brian Beaudo (Fr. • Fort Atkinson), Ryan Gregory (Fr. • Mahtomedi, Minn.) and Corey Wilch (So. • Waukesha).
The Titans had three more top finishers in the races. Quentin Badger (So. • Madison) sprinted for 7.06 seconds in the 60-meter dash, and Ryan Sprenger (So. • Larsen) needed just 22.89 to win the 200-meter dash. Nate Stymiest (Sr. • Oconto Falls) handled the mile run with a victorious time of 4:21.33.
Placing second in both standings, Lewis Prior (Jr. • Coleman) scored 58-6 in the weight throw and 51-7 in the shot put. Baatz followed in third place with a weight throw of 58-5 1/2 and Nick Grosskopf (Fr. • Weston) earned third in the shot put at 48-9.
Kris Wilke (Sr. • Waterloo) and Collin Worm (Fr. • Menasha) each contributed a pair of top-three scores. Wilke clocked third-place times of 8.95 in the 60-meter hurdles and 51.76 in the 400-meter dash. Also in the sprints, Worm timed a 7.07 for second at 60 meters and a 23.08 for third at 200 meters.
The second-place runners continued when Beaudo clocked a 50.33 in the 400-meter dash and Ken Halloran (So. • Mt. Prospect, Ill.) totaled 8:47.71 in the 3,000-meter run. After Ryan Fosler (Sr. • DeForest) earned second in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.63, Dickmann high-jumped 6-4 3/4 and Blaise Dueling (Jr. • Greenfield) long-jumped 21-8 1/4 for second place.
