Overtime Goal Ousts Titans From
|
A record-breaking season for the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team came to a sudden and disappointing end as Chris Quinn's goal with 2:57 left in the second overtime period gave Trinity University (Texas) a 3-2 victory over the Titans in a semifinal round contest of the NCAA Division III Championship held Saturday (Nov. 29) in Madison, N.J. Both squads entered the match unbeaten and untied on the year, and the final result lifted Trinity University (23-0) to Sunday's (Nov. 30) championship game against Drew University (N.J.). Drew University (20-1-3) advanced to the title match of the 44-team post-season event by defeating Wheaton College (Mass.) (20-3-1) on penalty kicks, 4-2, after the two squads played to a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods. UW-Oshkosh (21-1) had its bid for a national title spoiled by Quinn, who also scored the Tigers' first goal of the match just 11 minutes into play. Quinn's initial score marked the first time this season that UW-Oshkosh both trailed in a match and yielded a goal in the first half of a contest. Trinity University, which also played in the semifinal round of last year's NCAA Division III Championship, enjoyed its one-goal lead for about a minute as UW-Oshkosh's Ryan Stone (So. Jackson) evened the score with an unassisted goal. The goal was Stone's second of the season. Trailing 2-1 after a goal in the 67th minute by Trinity University's Cullen Davies, UW-Oshkosh rallied to tie the match on Mark Foster's (Sr. Delavan) dramatic header goal from 10 yards out with 43 seconds left in regulation. Foster's ninth goal of the season was assisted by Mamadee Konneh (Sr. Monrovia, Liberia). Quinn's match-winning goal was set up after the two teams went scoreless in the first overtime period. Trinity University outshot UW-Oshkosh by a 13-8 count, including 2-1 in overtime play. The Tigers also had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks, with the Titans having the lone try in overtime. UW-Oshkosh was competing in the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Championship for the third time in school history. In 1994, the Titans lost in the semifinals via the penalty-kick tiebreaker to eventual national champion Bethany College (W.Va.). In 2000, the Titans lost 2-0 in the semifinals to Rowan University (N.J.). UW-Oshkosh ends its 20th season of intercollegiate play with 21 victories and 16 shutouts, both school records. Prior to its loss to Trinity University, UW-Oshkosh became only the seventh team in NCAA Division III history to win 21 straight matches. The Titans have gone 87-12-3 in their last 102 matches, with a 20-2 ledger also recorded in 2000. Individually, six UW-Oshkosh players concluded their collegiate eligibility with the loss. In addition to Foster and Konneh, other seniors on the roster were Brad Haga (Neenah), Derek Kasten (Greenfield), Michael LoDuca (West Allis) and Shane Lohr (New Berlin). Kasten finished his career with 42 goals and Foster 41, the third and fourth-highest totals in UW-Oshkosh history. Kasten's 109 career points are also the third-highest mark in school annals. |
Mark Foster (Sr. Delavan) sent his only shot and the lone ball of the contest into the goal as UW-Oshkosh edged Dominican University (Ill.), 1-0, in a quarterfinal round match of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship held Saturday (Nov. 22) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex. The home victory advanced UW-Oshkosh to the semifinals of the 44-team NCAA Division III Championship, where the Titans will meet either Trinity University (Texas) or the University of California-Santa Cruz next weekend (Nov. 28 or 29). Trinity University (21-0) and the University of California-Santa Cruz (21-1) play Sunday (Nov. 23) in San Antonio, Texas, for the right to meet UW-Oshkosh (21-0) at a site to be announced on Monday (Nov. 24). Qualifying with UW-Oshkosh on Saturday for a spot in this year's Final Four of the NCAA Division III Championship were Drew University (N.J.) and Wheaton College (Mass.). Both teams advanced to their semifinal round matchup after posting 1-0 victories, Drew University (20-1-2) over Salisbury University (Md.) and Wheaton College (19-3-1) over the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. UW-Oshkosh, the seventh men's soccer team in NCAA Division III history to win 21 consecutive matches, is competing in the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Championship for the third time in school annals. In 1994, the Titans lost in the semifinals via the penalty-kick tiebreaker to eventual national champion Bethany College (W.Va.). In 2000, the Titans lost 2-0 in the semifinals to Rowan University (N.J.). UW-Oshkosh's victory over Dominican University (20-3-1) featured Foster recording his match-winning goal at the 33:10 mark of the first half. Foster's eighth goal of the season came via passes from Derek Kasten (Sr. Greenfield) and Tyler Winn (So. Wauwatosa).
Dineen, who recorded his 13th shutout and the Titans' 16th of the season, received strong defensive assistance from Darren Gallagher (Jr. Mukwonago), C.J. Lipinski (So. New Berlin), Shane Lohr (Sr. New Berlin), Johnny Malan (So. Brookfield) and Ben Olson (Jr. New Hope, Minn.). UW-Oshkosh, celebrating its 20th intercollegiate season and its 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship, owns an 87-11-3 record in its last 101 matches. |
Unbeaten UW-Oshkosh will host twice-beaten and once-tied Dominican University (Ill.) in a quarterfinal round match of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship on Saturday (Nov. 22) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex. Action on UW-Oshkosh's home pitch begins at 12:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to next weekend's (Nov. 28 or 29) semifinal round of the post-season event.
UW-Oshkosh (20-0) progressed to the quarterfinal round of the 44-team NCAA Division III Championship after defeating Hope College (Mich.), 2-0, and Wheaton College (Ill.), 1-0. The Titans are in their 10th NCAA Division III post-season appearance, with quarterfinal round visits in 1993, 1994 and 2000.
Dominican University (20-2-1) qualified for the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Championship after tying Fontbonne University (Mo.), 0-0 (advancing 4-3 on penalty kicks), and defeating Denison University (Ohio), 2-1, and John Carroll University (Ohio), 2-0. The Stars are making their first quarterfinal round appearance after being selected to NCAA Division III post-season play for the first time a year ago.
UW-Oshkosh and Dominican University are meeting for the second time this season and for the third time overall. The Titans have defeated the Stars twice previously, including a 2-0 count on October 4 in River Forest, Ill.
Admission prices for the contest are $6 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
Other quarterfinal round matches of the 2003 NCAA Division III Championship have University of California-Santa Cruz (21-1) at Trinity University (Texas) (21-0), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (17-2-1) at Wheaton College (Mass.) (18-3-1) and Salisbury University (Md.) (16-2-3) at Drew University (N.J.) (19-1-2).
Derek Kasten's (Sr. Greenfield) historic goal with just 50 seconds left in the match lifted the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Wheaton College (Ill.) in a third round contest of the NCAA Division III Championship held Saturday (Nov. 15) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex. UW-Oshkosh (20-0) now elevates to the quarterfinal round of the 44-team NCAA Division III Championship, where the Titans will play either Dominican University (Ill.) or John Carroll University (Ohio) next weekend (Nov. 22 or 23). Dominican University (19-2-1) and John Carroll University (17-4) square off Sunday (Nov. 16) in Granville, Ohio, for the right to join UW-Oshkosh in the quarterfinal round. UW-Oshkosh and Wheaton College (16-4-2) battled to a standstill for 89 minutes before Kasten headed the ball into the net off a Ryan Stone (So. Jackson) cross at the 89:10 mark of the contest. Kasten's goal was not only his team-leading 20th of the season, but also the 1,000 scoring strike in the 20-year history of the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer program. Wheaton College, which advanced to the quarterfinal round of last year's NCAA Division III Championship, outshot UW-Oshkosh in each half for a 14-11 overall advantage. Goalkeepers Ryan Dineen (Jr. Brookfield) of UW-Oshkosh and Pat King of Wheaton College combined to save 17 shots in the match, with Dineen totaling 11. Dineen's performance lowered his goals against average on the season to 0.27. In addition to Dineen, UW-Oshkosh also received stellar defensive play from Darren Gallagher (Jr. Mukwonago), C.J. Lipinski (So. New Berlin), Shane Lohr (Sr. New Berlin), Johnny Malan (So. Brookfield) and Ben Olson (Jr. New Hope, Minn.). The group helped UW-Oshkosh record its 15th shutout of the season and win 20 straight matches for only the 10th time in NCAA Division III history. UW-Oshkosh cut its deficit in the all-time series against Wheaton College to 5-8-1 by defeating the Thunder for the third straight time. Just two weeks ago (Nov. 1) in Oshkosh, the Titans defeated Wheaton College by a 3-1 count. |
Tyler Winn (So. Wauwatosa) celebrated his 21st birthday by scoring the match-winning goal as the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team defeated Hope College (Mich.), 2-0, in a second round contest of the NCAA Division III Championship held Friday (Nov. 14) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex. The victory advances UW-Oshkosh (19-0) to the third round of the 44-team NCAA Division III Championship, where the Titans will host Wheaton College (Ill.) on Saturday (Nov. 15) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex. Two weeks ago (Nov. 1) on the Titans' home pitch, UW-Oshkosh topped Wheaton College (16-3-2) by a 3-1 count. UW-Oshkosh, which was ousted by Hope College in the second round of the 2002 NCAA Division III Championship, broke Friday's scoreless tussle on Winn's goal at the 74:02 mark of the second half. Assisting on Winn's 10th goal of the season were Derek Kasten (Sr. Greenfield) and Joel Wichmann (So. New Berlin). Winn has now scored a goal in each of the Titans' last seven matches. The Titans held their one-goal advantage over Hope College (14-4-4) until Kasten scored his team-leading 19th goal of the season with 3:14 to play. His 41st career goal came via passes from Ryan Stone (So. Jackson) and Shane Lohr (Sr. New Berlin). Hope College outshot UW-Oshkosh in the contest, 11-7, while holding a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks. UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Ryan Dineen (Jr. Brookfield) made six saves in the match as he recorded his 11th shutout of the season. Goalkeeper R. The UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team
put a stamp on its first unbeaten and untied regular season in school
history by defeating Benedictine University (Ill.), 2-0, on Saturday (Nov.
8) in Lisle, Ill.
UW-Oshkosh's closure on a perfect 18-0 regular season kept the Titans mentioned with 19-0 Trinity University (Texas) as the only unbeaten and untied teams remaining in the NCAA Division III this year. UW-Oshkosh's victory also marked the 14th time in NCAA Division III history that a team had won 18 straight matches.
Meeting for the ninth time, UW-Oshkosh and Benedictine University (6-13-1) were scoreless until the Titans' Tyler Winn (So. Wauwatosa) registered his ninth goal of the year at the 73:25 mark of the second half. UW-Oshkosh's one-goal advantage was increased a little over a minute later when Nick Shebesta (So. New Berlin) counted his second goal of the season at the 74:34 mark.

UW-Oshkosh now waits until late Sunday (Nov. 9) night to find out about its selection to the 44-team NCAA Division III Tournament. The Titans are expected to receive their fifth straight invitation to the NCAA Division III Tournament and 10th overall. UW-Oshkosh, ranked ninth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, advanced to the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Tournament in 1994 and 2000.
Scoring all three of its goals
in the opening half, the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team remained perfect
on the year after defeating Wheaton College (Ill.), 3-1, on Saturday (Nov.
1) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex. The victory keeps UW-Oshkosh and
Trinity University (Texas), both with 17-0 records, as the only unbeaten
and untied teams left in the NCAA Division III this season.
UW-Oshkosh took a 1-0 lead over Wheaton College, a quarterfinalist in last year's NCAA Division III Tournament, on Dan Schmeeckle's (So. Stevens Point) goal just 7:35 into play. The scoring strike was Schmeeckle's third of the season.
UW-Oshkosh increased its advantage later in the first period on goals by Nick Shebesta (So. New Berlin) and Tyler Winn (So. Wauwatosa) at the 31:31 and and 41:04 marks, respectively. The goals were Shebesta's first and Winn's eighth of the season.
Wheaton College (13-3-2), which lost for the first time since September 10, cut its deficit to 3-1 on Nick Fichera's goal at the 62:04 mark of the second half. The goal was just the fifth allowed by UW-Oshkosh this season.
UW-Oshkosh's second straight win over Wheaton College improved its ledger in the all-time series against the Thunder to 4-8-1. The victory was also the Titans' eighth of the season against a team that was in the NCAA Division III Tournament a year ago.
Mamadee Konneh (Sr. Monrovia,
Liberia) scored a little over 13 minutes into play to help the UW-Oshkosh
men's soccer team defeat Concordia University, 2-0, on Tuesday (Oct. 28)
in Mequon. The shutout was the 12th of the season for the Titans, who
have yielded just four goals in their 16 matches played.
Konneh gave UW-Oshkosh a 1-0 lead over Concordia University with his goal at the 13:30 mark of the first half. The goal, assisted by Derek Kasten (Sr. Greenfield) and Tyler Winn (So. Wauwatosa), was Konneh's second of the year.
UW-Oshkosh made the final score 2-0 when Winn scored his seventh goal of the season at the 63:05 mark of the second half. Winn's goal was assisted by Shane Lohr (Sr. New Berlin) and Kasten, who attempted eight of the Titans' 20 shots on the match.
UW-Oshkosh continued its best start to a season by winning for the 16th time in as many matches. The Titans entered the contest against Concordia University (11-6-1) as the ninth-ranked team in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
UW-Oshkosh improved to 4-1-3 in the all-time series against Concordia University, which joined the Titans as a participant in the NCAA Division III Tournament a year ago. This year's contest between the two teams snapped a string of four consecutive contests that went to overtime.
The UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team
battled through poor weather conditions and a delay to defeat UW-Platteville,
4-0, on Friday (Oct. 24) in Platteville. The match was delayed 80 minutes
due to a severe thunder and lightning storm with 20 minutes gone by and
then ended to darkness with 8:33 remaining.
Derek Kasten (Sr. Greenfield) scored twice for UW-Oshkosh, connecting on a penalty kick before the storm delay and then on a direct kick shortly after it for a 2-0 first-half advantage. The goals were Kasten's team-leading 17th and 18th of the season.
UW-Oshkosh changed the score twice in the second period as Tyler Winn (So. Wauwatosa) counted his sixth goal of the year and Mark Foster (Sr. Delavan) his seventh at the 59:00 and 78:45 marks, respectively.
UW-Oshkosh went to 17-2 against UW-Platteville (8-8) by outshooting the Pioneers by a 10-2 count. The Titans' Ryan Dineen (Jr. Brookfield) played all 81:27 in the goal as he lowered his goals against average on the season to 0.30. The shutout was his eighth of the year.
UW-Oshkosh, ranked ninth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, improved to 15-0 with the victory. The 15 consecutive wins marks the best start to a season in the 20-year history of the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer program. The winning streak is also the second-longest in UW-Oshkosh annals.
Derek Kasten (Sr. Greenfield)
scored multiple goals in a match for the fourth time this season as the
UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team defeated rival UW-Whitewater, 4-1, on Sunday
(Oct. 19) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex. The contest paired teams
that were participants in NCAA Division III post-season play the past
two seasons.
Kasten increased his team-best goal count to 16 by giving UW-Oshkosh a 1-0 lead at the 28:04 mark of the first half and a 4-1 advantage at the 85:49 mark of the second. Kasten also scored a pair of goals in UW-Oshkosh wins over St. Norbert College on August 29, Edgewood College on September 16 and Calvin College (Mich.) on September 19.
UW-Oshkosh (14-0) also received goals from Tyler Winn (So. Wauwatosa) at the 37:41 mark of the first period and Dave Makovec (Fr. Mukwonago) at the 77:56 mark of the second. The goals were Winn's fifth of the season and Makovec's third. UW-Whitewater's lone score was by Aaron Rowley at the 66:20 mark of the second half.
UW-Oshkosh outshot UW-Whitewater (10-4-1) by a 22-4 count, with the Warhawks' lone goal being just the fourth allowed by the Titans all season. UW-Oshkosh entered the match ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Ignited by a pair of early goals,
the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team remained unbeaten in 13 matches following
its 3-0 victory over Illinois Wesleyan University on Friday (Oct. 17)
at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.
UW-Oshkosh (13-0), enjoying its third-longest winning streak in school history, took a 1-0 lead on Tyler Winn's (So. Wauwatosa) fourth goal of the season just 11:18 into play. Mark Foster (Sr. Delavan) made the score 2-0 in favor of UW-Oshkosh by recording his sixth goal of the year less than eight minutes (7:23) later. Derek Kasten (Sr. Greenfield) concluded UW-Oshkosh's scoring by sending a shot into the goal at the 42:43 mark of the opening period. The goal was Kasten's team-leading 14th of the year.
UW-Oshkosh limited Illinois Wesleyan University to just two shots in the contest, one in each half. Goalkeeper Ryan Dineen (Jr. Brookfield) made one save for UW-Oshkosh as he posted his seventh shutout of the year and lowered his goals against average on the season to 0.26.
UW-Oshkosh, ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, has won both of its meetings with Illinois Wesleyan University (6-8). In 1999, UW-Oshkosh topped Illinois Wesleyan University by a 3-0 count.
Mark Foster (Sr. Delavan)
scored off a rebounded shot just 1:41 into overtime to give the UW-Oshkosh
men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Macalester College (Minn.) on Sunday
(Oct. 12) in St. Paul, Minn.
UW-Oshkosh's victory kept the Titans unbeaten in 12 contests this season and ended Macalester College's 21-match home unbeaten streak. Macalester College went 20-0-1 in its previous 21 home matches, with the Scots' lengthy unbeaten streak starting after an overtime loss to UW-Oshkosh during the 2001 campaign.
Foster counted his fifth goal of the season after UW-Oshkosh teammate Derek Kasten (Sr. Greenfield) had his scoring strike in overtime ricochet off Macalester College (9-3) goalkeeper Tom Klezcewski. Foster's shot was the 20th taken by the Titans in the match.
Following a scoreless first half, both teams connected on one of their nine shots in the second period. UW-Oshkosh took a 1-0 lead when Shane Lohr (Sr. New Berlin) scored his fourth goal of the season with 25:27 left in regulation. Macalester College sent the match to overtime when Michael Blythe registered his first goal of the year with 18:34 remaining in regulation.
UW-Oshkosh, the ninth-ranked team in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, leads the all-time series against Macalester College by a 5-4 tally. Last year, the Scots defeated the Titans in overtime, 1-0.
Three players contributed goals
as the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team remained unbeaten after defeating
Lawrence University, 3-1, on Wednesday (Oct. 8) in Appleton.
Derek Kasten (Sr. Greenfield) got UW-Oshkosh off to a fast start by compiling his team-leading 13th goal of the year at the 8:59 mark of the first half. The Titans took a 2-0 lead to intermission on Mark Foster's (Sr. Delavan) goal at the 22:52 mark of the opening frame.
Both teams scored once in the second half as UW-Oshkosh's Tyler Winn (So. Wauwatosa) and Lawrence University's Rodrigo Gomes connected on shots at the 66:38 and 70:05 marks, respectively. Gomes' score came against UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Ryan Dineen (Jr. Brookfield), who saw his string of consecutive shutout minutes end at 760. Dineen's exact shutout time of 760:31 is the fifth-longest in NCAA Division III history.
Lawrence University (6-3-1) becomes only the second opponent to score against UW-Oshkosh (11-0) this year, with the other being St. Norbert College on August 29 in the season opener. In between those matches the Titans shutout nine straight opponents for a school record and the seventh-longest streak in NCAA Division III history.
UW-Oshkosh, 17-3 in the all-time series against Lawrence University, entered the match as the ninth-ranked team in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
UW-Oshkosh survived a contest
involving two of the remaining 13 unbeaten NCAA Division III men's soccer
teams in the country by defeating Dominican University (Ill.), 2-0, on
Saturday (Oct. 4) in River Forest, Ill. The shutout was the ninth in as
many matches for the Titans, who now own the seventh-longest streak in
NCAA Division III history.
UW-Oshkosh (10-0), ranked 10th nationally and second in the Central Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, broke a scoreless debate on Derek Kasten's (Sr. Greenfield) goal at the 54:29 mark of the second half. Kasten's goal, his team-leading 12th of the season, was assisted by Ryan Stone (So. Jackson).
UW-Oshkosh's one-goal advantage over the fourth-ranked team in the Central Region held up until Dan Schmeeckle (So. Stevens Point) connected on a scoring strike at the 68:12 mark of the second period. Schmeeckle's second goal of the season came on assists from Kasten and Darren Gallagher (Jr. Mukwonago).
UW-Oshkosh outshot Dominican University (11-1), a second-time opponent of the Titans, 13-10. Goalkeeper Ryan Dineen (Jr. Brookfield) of the Titans made saves on three of the Stars' scoring attempts to lower his goals against average on the season to an impressive 0.12.
The defense of the UW-Oshkosh
men's soccer team continued to be impenetrable as the Titans set a school
record for consecutive shutouts in their 3-0 win over Ripon College on
Tuesday (Sept. 30) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.
UW-Oshkosh (9-0) has now shutout eight straight opponents to eclipse the previous school mark of seven set during the Titans' last-two matches of the 1992 season and the first-five contests of the 1993 campaign. UW-Oshkosh's current shutout streak is the fifth-longest in NCAA Division III history.
UW-Oshkosh broke a scoreless battle at 26:31 mark of the first half on a goal by Mark Foster (Sr. Delavan). The goal, assisted by Derek Kasten (Sr. Greenfield) and C.J. Lipinski (So. New Berlin) was Foster's third of the year.
UW-Oshkosh scored a pair of goals in the second half, one by Ryan Stone (So. Jackson) on a penalty kick at the 54;12 mark and another by Mamadee Konneh (Sr. Monrovia, Liberia) at the 71:43 mark. Lipinski also recorded the assist on Konneh's first goal of the season.
UW-Oshkosh held a 27-3 advantage in shots as the Titans defeated the Red Hawks (4-4) for the 18th time in 20 meetings (18-0-2 record).
UW-Oshkosh has outscored its opponents by a 25-1 count this season, thanks in part to stellar goalkeeping by Ryan Dineen (Jr. Brookfield). Dineen currently has a 0.14 goals against average, the second-lowest mark in the NCAA Division III.
Second half goals by Derek Kasten
(Sr. Greenfield) and Shane Lohr (Sr. New Berlin) provided
all of the scoring as the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team trampled through
a steady rain to defeat Marian College, 2-0, on Friday (Sept. 26) in Fond
du Lac. It was a school-record tying seventh straight shutout for the
Titans, who haven't allowed a goal since their season-opening contest
with St. Norbert College on August 29.
After failing to score on its 10 shots in the first half, UW-Oshkosh (8-0) broke a scoreless deadlock in the second period by connecting on two of its 13 attempts. Kasten started things for the Titans by counting his team-leading 11th goal of the season on an assist by Dave Makovec (Fr. Mukwonago) at the 67:35 mark of the second period. UW-Oshkosh's lead expanded to 2-0 when Lohr scored his third goal of the year on an assist by Kasten at the 79:07 mark of the final frame.
UW-Oshkosh, ranked ninth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, yielded just two shots to Marian College (0-9). Both of the Sabres' scoring attempts came in the second half and had to be saved by UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Bobby Post (Jr. Fond du Lac).
UW-Oshkosh, which defeated the Sabres by a 2-0 score last year, has won 19 of its 20 meetings with Marian College.
Last year, the Hope College (Mich.)
men's soccer team handed UW-Oshkosh two of its four losses, including
a 2-0 setback in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship.
On Saturday (Sept. 20), UW-Oshkosh got a little revenge for those losses
as they disabled the Flying Dutchmen by a 2-0 score at the Kolf Sports
Center Complex.
Saturday's match was a skirmish between two of the top teams in the country as UW-Oshkosh entered the game ranked 11th in the NCAA Division III and second in its Central Region, while Hope College was tabbed as the NCAA's eighth-best team in the Great Lakes Region.
