Ron Smead Benefit Day
Ron Smead Benefit Day Saturday, May 16, was a proud day for the UW-Oshkosh Men’s Soccer program. On that day there was no Titan NCAA tournament victory , no player being named All-America. More importantly, May 16th was about UW-Oshkosh soccer alumni and friends stepping up by hosting a benefit soccer game featuring UW-Oshkosh alumni vs. Neenah High School alumni followed by a fantastic post-game gathering/fund raiser in the memory of a fallen brother, Ron Smead, who passed away April 20th after a courageous battle with cancer.
Hailing from Neenah, Wisconsin Ron’s impressive play for the Titans in 1987 and 1990 was marked by the life long friends he made while attending UW-Oshkosh. Ron’s wife, Vicki, and beautiful little daughter, Brooke, thank everyone who made this event a terrific success. The outpouring of support was overwhelming. Everyone who partook in these events should walk away feeling a renewed sense of the general goodness that exists in all of us.
Donations can still be made to the Ron Smead Charitable Foundation in order to continue to help offset the medical bills resulting from Ron’s battle. For more information please got to: http://site.ronsmead.com or contact UW-Oshkosh and Neenah High alum, Sam Nail, at: sam@orizoningenuity.com.
