Titans Suffer Setbacks To Eagles, Blugolds
 The UW-Oshkosh men's tennis team closed its 2008 season with a pair
of losses to cross-state rivals UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire on
Saturday (April 12) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
UW-Oshkosh (9-12)
lost 5-4 to UW-La Crosse (11-7) in the opener and 7-2 to UW-Eau
Claire (25-4) in the nightcap.
Nate Kilsdonk
(Fr. • Dousman) took part in three victories to lead the Titans,
including a 6-1, 6-4 win over UW-La Crosse's Doug Marmar at No.
6 singles. He also teamed with Brandon Lepp (Sr. • Green Bay)
to record wins of 8-2 over UW-La Crosse's Mike Frenzel and Taylor
Schliewe and 8-3 over UW-Eau Claire's Aaron Johnson and C.J. Rose
at No. 3 doubles. |
Warhawks Jolt Titans
Nate
Kilsdonk (Fr. • Dousman) picked up a win at No. 6 singles
as the UW-Oshkosh men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback to UW-Whitewater
on Friday (April 11) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
Kilsdonk earned
UW-Oshkosh's lone team point by posting a 6-2, 6-3 victory over
the Warhawks' Kelvin Caiati.
UW-Oshkosh (9-10)
also received a strong effort from Seth Breunig (Jr. • Sauk
City) at No. 4 singles. Breunig lost on a tiebreaker to UW-Whitewater's
Danny Glinert in scores of 7-6, 4-6 (13-11).
UW-Whitewater
(15-7) took the remaining singles contests in straight sets, including
Gianandrea Heyer's 6-0, 6-1 win over Brandon Lepp (Sr. • Green
Bay) in the second flight and Tim Moller's 6-0, 6-2 victory over
Todd Fuller (So. • Oshkosh) in the fifth.
Other singles
winners for the Warhawks were Alex Lowe in the first flight and
John Reed in the third. Lowe defeated Brian Naidicz (Jr. •
Kenosha), 6-4, 6-0, while Reed slipped past James Lewison (So. •
South Milwaukee), 6-4, 7-5.
UW-Whitewater,
which presented head coach Frank Barnes with his 100th dual meet
victory, swept all three doubles contests. The Warhawks had Heyer
and Lower post an 8-3 win over Fuller and Naidicz at No. 1 doubles,
Glinert and Erich Palecek tally an 8-5 victory over Breunig and
Lewison at No. 2 doubles and Caiati and Ian Hintz register an 8-5
triumph over Kilsdonk and Lepp at No. 3 doubles. |
Division I Phoenix Oust Titans
Brandon
Lepp (Sr. • Green Bay) and Robbie Price (Fr. • Franklin)
paired for a win at No. 3 doubles as the UW-Oshkosh men's tennis
team dropped an 8-1 decision to NCAA Division I UW-Green Bay on
Friday (April 4) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
Lepp and Price
accounted for the Titans' (9-9) lone team point by posting an 8-6
victory over John Brough and Mike Wesley.
UW-Green Bay
(8-9) took the remaining doubles contests on wins by Mark Goldin
and Tim Prudlow in the first flight and Eric Plaushines and Brian
Zaron in the second. Goldin and Prudlow defeated Todd Fuller (So.
• Oshkosh) and Brian Naidicz (Jr. • Kenosha), 8-3, while
Plaushines and Zaron topped Seth Breunig (Jr. • Sauk City)
and James Lewison (So. • South Milwaukee), 8-4.
UW-Green Bay
won all six singles contests, including five in straight sets. The
Phoenix received victories of 6-1, 6-1 by Matt Clegg over Lepp at
No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1 by Zaron over Naidicz at No. 2, 6-0, 6-3
by Plaushines over Lewison at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0 by Matt Keesey over
Fuller at No. 5 and 6-2, 6-2 by Wesley over Nate Kilsdonk (Fr. •
Dousman) at No. 6.
UW-Green Bay's
Brough needed extra play to record a 6-7, 6-2 (10-7) win over Breunig

Titans Clobber Raiders
The
UW-Oshkosh men's tennis team won its fourth straight match by overwhelming
the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 9-0, on Friday (March 14) at
the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
UW-Oshkosh (8-4)
captured 72 of the 77 singles and 24 of the 26 doubles games against
the Milwaukee School of Engineering (1-6) to record its fourth 9-0
victory of the season. The Titans also shut out Concordia University
Wisconsin on Feb. 15, Elmhurst College on Feb. 16 and Marian College
on Feb. 29.
UW-Oshkosh played
the minimum amount of games in four singles contests. Winning by
6-0, 6-0 scores were Seth Breunig (Jr. • Sauk City) over Andrew
Ohland in the third flight, James Lewison (So. • South Milwaukee)
over Dustin Holzhauer in the fourth, Todd Fuller (So. • Oshkosh)
over Jason Anderson in the fifth and Nate Kilsdonk (Fr. •
Dousman) over Grant Lees in the sixth.
The Titans also
received a 6-0, 6-3 win from Brian Naidicz (Jr. • Kenosha)
over James Kutill at No. 1 singles and a 6-0, 6-3 victory from Brandon
Lepp (Sr. • Green Bay) over Mark Schadler at No. 2 singles.
UW-Oshkosh had
a pair of 8-0 triumphs in doubles play as Breunig and Lewison bashed
Ohland and Schadler in the second flight and Lepp and Robbie Price

Unblemished
victories in seven of its nine singles and doubles contests helped
the UW-Oshkosh men's tennis team soundly defeat Lakeland College,
8-1, on Saturday (March 8) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
UW-Oshkosh
(7-4) won every game in four singles contests as 6-0, 6-0 victories
went to Robbie Price (Fr. • Franklin) over Desmond Staten
in the third flight, David Brown (So. • Madison) over Alex
Marit in the fourth, Dustin Blackburn (Fr. • Waukesha) over
Tom Kuehl in the fifth and Matt Vohnoutka (So. • Waukesha)
over Carlos Mellan in the sixth.
UW-Oshkosh's
remaining singles victory was Nate Kilsdonk's (Fr. • Dousman)
6-1, 6-0 win over Dartanian Taylor in the second flight.
In doubles play,
UW-Oshkosh captured every game. Winning by 8-0 scores were Kilsdonk

Robbie
Price (Fr. • Franklin) earned victories in both singles and
doubles play to lead the UW-Oshkosh men's tennis team to a 7-2 win
over Lawrence University on Friday (March 7) at the Oshkosh YMCA
Tennis Center.
Price competed
at No. 6 singles and tallied a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Alroy Wimer.
Price also teamed with Brandon Lepp (Sr. • Green Bay) to register
an 8-6 win over Travis Fondow and Lincoln Thomas at No. 2 doubles.
The Titans picked
up four other singles victories as Brian Naidicz (Jr. • Kenosha)
won in the second flight, James Lewison (So. • South Milwaukee)
in the third, Seth Breunig (Jr. • Sauk City) in the fourth
and Nate Kilsdonk (Fr. • Dousman) in the fifth. Naidicz defeated
Daniel Hertel, 3-6, 6-2 (11-9), while Lewison ousted Fondow, 6-1,
6-4, Breunig routed Kyle Nodarse, 6-1, 6-3, and Kilsdonk clobbered
Thomas, 6-0, 6-2.
UW-Oshkosh (6-4)
had another victory in doubles play as David Brown (So. •
Madison) and Matt Vohnoutka (So. • Waukesha) tripped Nodarse
and Wimer, 8-3, in the third flight.
Lawrence University
(1-5) owned the winner at No. 1 singles as Ryan Dunn defeated Lepp,
6-1, 6-2. Dunn and Hertel also played together to post an 8-4 win
over Kilsdonk and Naidicz at No. 1 doubles. |
Titans Mutilate Sabres
The
UW-Oshkosh men's tennis team ended a three-match losing streak in
a big way as it crushed Marian College, 9-0, on Friday (Feb. 29)
at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
UW-Oshkosh (5-4)
won all six of its singles contests in straight sets, including
6-0, 6-0 decisions by Seth Breunig (Jr. • Sauk City) over
Tyler Leinweber in the first flight, James Lewison (So. •
South Milwaukee) over Rob Ogden in the second and Dustin Blackburn
(Fr. • Waukesha) over Luis Cortes in the sixth.
The Titans also
received convincing wins from Nate Kilsdonk (Fr. • Dousman)
at No. 4 singles and Robbie Price (Fr. • Franklin) at No.
5. Kilsdonk posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Kyle Ohland, while Price
tallied a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over John Thompson.
UW-Oshkosh marked
its final singles victory with Todd Fuller's (So. • Oshkosh)
6-3, 6-3 win over Lucas Nieman in the third flight.
UW-Oshkosh took
all three doubles contests as it won 24 of the 25 games played.
The results included 8-0 victories from Kilsdonk and Price over
Leinweber and Thompson at No. 2 doubles and David Brown (So. •
Madison) and Matt Vohnoutka (So. • Waukesha) over Cortes and
Ohland at No. 3.

Titans Fall To Red Men, Kohawks
 The UW-Oshkosh men’s tennis team suffered a pair of setbacks
when it lost 5-4 to Carthage College and 9-0 to Coe College (Iowa)
on Saturday (Feb. 23) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In the opener, Carthage College (3-3) nipped UW-Oshkosh (4-4) by
picking up one more victory than the Titans did in doubles play.
Each team won three times in singles action.
UW-Oshkosh’s singles winners were James Lewison (So. •
South Milwaukee) in the fourth flight, Todd Fuller (So. •
Oshkosh) in the fifth and Robbie Price (Fr. • Franklin) in
the sixth. Lewison defeated J.T. Delk, 6-4, 6-3, while Fuller topped
Andy Schwenke, 6-4, 6-0 and Price ousted Joey Perkins, 6-1, 6-1.
The Titans’ lone doubles victory came in the third flight
as Lewison and Seth Breunig (Jr. • Sauk City) defeated Schwenke
and Dan Gerber, 8-2.
Carthage College had the winner in the top three singles flights,
including Miguel Yunes who posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Brandon
Lepp (Sr. • Green Bay) in the first. The Red Men also obtained
Jack Schiro's 6-4, 6-3 win over Brian Naidicz (Jr. • Kenosha)
at No. 2 singles and Sergio Lopez's 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Breunig
at No. 3.
Winning doubles
teams for Carthage College were Lopez and Yunes in the first flight
and Delk and Schiro in the second. Lopez and Yunes beat Lepp and
Naidicz, 8-4, while Delk and Schiro handcuffed Fuller and Price,
8-0.
In the nightcap,
Coe College (6-2) won five of its six singles contests against UW-Oshkosh
in straight sets. The closest battle was at No. 4 singles, where
the Kohawks' Tom Jennings registered a 6-2, 3-6 (7-6) victory over
Breunig.
Coe College
also received singles wins of 6-1, 6-2 from Joey Lankelma over Naidicz
at No. 1, 6-1, 7-5 from Sam Zerbib over Lepp at No. 2, 6-4, 6-3
from Greg Janssen over Lewison at No. 3, 6-0, 6-2 from Elliot Rausa
over Fuller at No. 5 and 6-3, 6-0 from Dawson Shaver over Price
at No. 6.
The Kohawks
won all three doubles contests, with the highlight being an 8-0
victory by Janssen and Lankelma over Breunig and Lewison in the
third flight. Coe College also enjoyed an 8-6 win by Rausa and Zerbib
over Lepp and Naidicz at No. 1 doubles and an 8-3 victory by Jennings
and Scott Stegeman over Price and Nate Kilsdonk (Fr. • Dousman)

Pioneers Halt Titans’ Winning Streak
The
UW-Oshkosh men’s tennis team had its three-match winning streak
stopped when Grinnell College (Iowa) posted a 7-2 victory over the
Titans on Friday (Feb. 22) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Todd Fuller (So. • Oshkosh) earned one of UW-Oshkosh’s
two team points with his 4-6, 6-4 (10-8) win over Sam Raife at No.
5 singles.
Seth Breunig (Jr. • Sauk City) and James Lewison (So. •
South Milwaukee) tallied an 8-2 victory over Raife and Jordan Lee
at No. 3 doubles for the Titans’ remaining team point.
Grinnell College (1-1) won four singles contests in straight sets,
including Dan LaFountaine’s 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Brian Naidicz
(Jr. • Kenosha) in the first flight. The Pioneers also received
wins of 6-0, 6-2 from Juan Carlos Perez Borja over Brandon Lepp
(Sr. • Green Bay) at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 7-6 from D.J. Warden
over Breunig at No. 4 singles and 6-2, 6-3 from Lee over Robbie
Price (Fr. • Franklin) at No. 6 singles.
Grinnell College closed out its list of single winners with Nate
Fox’s 5-7, 6-2 (10-7) victory over Lewison in the third flight.
Grinnell College defeated UW-Oshkosh (4-4) twice by 8-3 scores in
doubles play. The Pioneers had Fox and LaFountaine beat Lepp and
Naidicz in the first flight and Carlos Perez Borja and Warden oust
Fuller and Price in the second.

Titans To Much For Bluejays, Green Knights
 The UW-Oshkosh men’s tennis team extended its winning streak
to three consecutive matches by destroying both Elmhurst College
(Ill.) and St. Norbert College on Saturday (Feb. 16) in Green Bay.
UW-Oshkosh (4-1) opened its activity with a 9-0 victory over Elmhurst
College (0-3). The Titans were nearly perfect against the Bluejays
as they won 72 of their 77 singles and 24 of their 26 doubles games.
In singles action, UW-Oshkosh obtained 6-0, 6-0 victories from Seth
Breunig (Jr. • Sauk City) over Ryan Applegate in the fourth
flight, Todd Fuller (So. • Oshkosh) over Ryan Wise in the
fifth and Robbie Price (Fr. • Franklin) over Mark Kleppe in
the sixth. Breunig accomplished a rare collegiate tennis feat by
winning every point (48) in his contest with Applegate.
The Titans also received a pair of 6-0, 6-1 singles wins as Brandon
Lepp (Sr. • Green Bay) routed Robert Korsch in the second
flight and James Lewison (So. • South Milwaukee) clobbered
Alex Weisner in the third. Brian Naidicz (Jr. • Kenosha) added
a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Dave Douglass at No. 1 singles.
UW-Oshkosh had two 8-0 wins in doubles play as Fuller and Price
defeated Korsch and Wise in the second flight and Breunig and Lewison
ousted Applegate and Kleppe in the third. The Titans’ No.
1 doubles team of Lepp and Naidicz beat Douglass and Weisner, 8-2.
In the nightcap, UW-Oshkosh demolished St. Norbert College (2-3),
8-1, to extend its winning streak over the Green Knights to 19 consecutive
matches.
UW-Oshkosh swept all six singles contests, including Lepp’s
6-0, 6-0 victory over Mike Hyrczyk in the first flight, Breunig’s
6-1, 6-0 win over Adrian Acosta in the third and Lewison’s
6-2, 6-1 conquest of Eric Koppmann in the fourth.
The Titans also received singles wins from Naidicz at No. 1, Fuller
at No. 5 and Price at No. 6. Naidicz won 6-2, 6-4 over Chris Schmitz,
Fuller 6-4, 6-3 over Ryan Kerswill and Price 6-1, 6-3 over Nate
Tackaberry.
UW-Oshkosh won two of its three doubles contests. The Titans had
Fuller and Price beat Hyrczyk and Schmitz, 8-6, at No. 2 and Breunig
and Lewison defeat Koppmann and Tackaberry, 8-3, at No. 3.
Acosta and Kerswill picked up St. Norbert College’s lone doubles
victory against UW-Oshkosh, beating Lepp and Naidicz, 9-7, at No.
1.

Titans Abolish Falcons
The
UW-Oshkosh men’s tennis team recorded its first shutout of
the season by defeating Concordia University Wisconsin, 9-0, on
Friday (Feb. 15) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
UW-Oshkosh (2-1) won all six singles contests in straight sets,
including 6-0, 6-0 victories by James Lewison (So. • South
Milwaukee) over Bradley Shea in the fourth flight and Robbie Price
(Fr. • Franklin) over Dan Kaufenberg in the sixth.
Other singles winners for the Titans were Brandon Lepp (Sr. •
Green Bay) in the first flight, Brian Naidicz (Jr. • Kenosha)
in the second, Seth Breunig (Jr. • Sauk City) in the third
and Todd Fuller (So. • Oshkosh) in the fifth. Lepp defeated
Steven Anschutz, 6-1, 6-2, while Naidicz conquered Austin Sveom,
6-2, 6-2, Breunig topped Justin Weber, 6-2, 6-0, and Fuller ousted
Cody Welter, 6-4, 6-0.
UW-Oshkosh dominated all three doubles contests as it outscored
Concordia University Wisconsin (0-6), 24-3. The Titans were led
in their doubles performances by the 8-0 victory of Breunig and
Lewison over Kaufenberg and Welter in the third flight.
UW-Oshkosh also had Lepp and Naidicz post an 8-1 win over Anschutz
and Sveom at No. 1 doubles and Fuller and Price register an 8-2
triumph over Shea and Weber at No. 3.

Titans Unable To Avoid Rumble Of Thunder
James
Lewison (So. • South Milwaukee) was the lone UW-Oshkosh winner
as the Titans dropped an 8-1 men’s tennis decision to Wheaton
College (Ill.) on Saturday (Feb. 9) in Lincolnshire, Ill.
Lewison, competing at No. 3 singles, lost 6-2 to Davis Moore in
the first set. He then rallied to defeat Moore by posting victories
of 6-1 in the second set and 12-10 in the tie breaker.
Wheaton College (3-1) also picked up a win via a tie breaker as
Ian Kirchner edged Seth Breunig (Jr. • Sauk City), 1-6, 6-2
(10-6), at No. 4 singles.
The remaining four singles contests went to Wheaton College in straight
sets, including Josh Williams’ 6-4, 6-0 victory over Brian
Naidicz (Jr. • Kenosha) in the first flight.
The Thunder won at No. 2 singles as Justin Miller conquered Brandon
Lepp (Sr. • Green Bay), 6-3, 7-5, No. 5 singles as Cory Kraftson
topped Todd Fuller (So. • Oshkosh), 6-3, 6-4, and No. 6 singles
as David Warren ousted Robbie Price (Fr. • Franklin), 6-1,
6-3.
Wheaton College had a pair of 8-3 wins in doubles play as Kraftson
and Moore beat Fuller and Price in the second flight and Jordan
Williams and Warren abolished Breunig and Lewison in the third.
Miller and Josh Williams recorded an 8-6 victory over Lepp and Naidicz
at No. 1 doubles.

Titans Roll Over Red Hawks In Season Debut
The
UW-Oshkosh men’s tennis team experienced little trouble and
the result was an 8-1 season-opening victory over Ripon College
on Friday (Feb. 8) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
UW-Oshkosh (1-0) won five of the six singles contests, including
Seth Breunig’s (Jr. • Sauk City) 6-0, 6-0 victory over
Jay Hardacre in the third flight and Robbie Price’s (Fr. •
Franklin) 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Dan Rodriguez in the sixth.
Also winning in straight sets for the Titans were James Lewison
(So. • South Milwaukee) in the fourth flight and Todd Fuller
(So. • Oshkosh) in the fifth. Lewison defeated Dan Weiler,
6-1, 6-1, while Fuller ousted Ben Sweeney, 6-3, 6-2.
UW-Oshkosh’s Brian Naidicz (Jr. • Kenosha) added a 6-2,
3-6 (10-6) victory over Andy Schaller at No. 2 singles.
Ripon College (0-1) earned its lone team point on Dave Czarnecki’s
3-6, 6-4 (12-10) win over Brandon Lepp (Sr. • Green Bay) at
No. 1 singles.
UW-Oshkosh controlled the doubles competition by winning all three
matches.
Victorious partners for the Titans were Lepp and Naidicz in the
first flight, Fuller and Price in the second and Breunig and Lewison
in the third. Lepp and Naidicz slipped past Czarnecki and Schaller,
8-5, while Fuller and Price defeated Hardacre and Sweeney, 8-3.
Breunig and Lewison registered an 8-1 victory over Rodriguez and
Weiler.
UW-Oshkosh has won its last three matches with Ripon College.
