DEFENDING CHAMPIONS: St. Thomas (Minnesota) and North Carolina Wesleyan staged an old-fashioned pitchers duel in the championship game June 1 in Salem, Virginia.

Wesleyan's Sean Fleming and Buddy Hernandez combined for a six-hit shutout to lead the Bishops to a 1-0 win over St. Thomas in a game that featured good defense, solid pitching and high drama.

Scoring, the one thing the game lacked, ended early. North Carolina Wesleyan's Scott Robeson smacked a single to lead off the game. After a sacrifice put Robeson on second base, Jeremy Stewart knocked him home with an RBI single.
