Men's 400-Meter Hurdles Recap

OSHKOSH, Wis. – Gliding over each hurdle with ease, sophomore Ted McMillian from Augustana College (Ill.) pulled away from the field to capture the third 400-meter hurdles national championship in school history in a time of 51.50. McMillian set a new NCAA Division III season best time with the winning mark. McMillian finished fourth at last year’s national championship.

St. John’s University (Minn.) junior Mike Leither finished second in a time of 51.97 that also bettered the previous season’s best time. Loras College (Iowa) senior Geoff Kaiser finished in third-place in a time of 52.28 and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse junior Brad Petersen captured fourth-place in a time of 52.32. Petersen became a three-time All-American as he took fifth-place last season and eighth-place in 2005. Kaiser placed fourth in 2005.

Heidelberg College (Pa.) sophomore Cory Beebe took fifth-place in a time of 53.16. Beebe took sixth-place at last year’s NCAA Division III championship.

The remaining All-America performances continued with sophomore Tom Ballinger from Carleton College (Minn.) taking sixth-place in a time of 53.24, senior Ben Thayer from Nebraska Wesleyan University capturing seventh-place in a time of 53.29 and senior Ben Bollard from Central College (Iowa) running to a eighth-place result in a time of 53.48.
