Men's 800-Meter Run Recap |
OSHKOSH,
Wis. - Ohio Northern University
sophomore Jimmy O’Brien took the lead
with about 75-meters remaining and went
on to win the 800-meter run at the NCAA
Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship
at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
O’Brien becomes the first athlete in school
history to capture the 800-meter run as
he won with a time of 1:53.16. He set
a facility record in the preliminaries
Friday with a time of 1:50.74.
He overtook College of New Jersey senior
Jeff Zodda on the final stretch as Zodda
placed second (1:53.53) for the third
straight season. He also finished sixth
in 2004 and finishes his career with
four All-America honors. Calvin College
(Mich.) senior Todd Schuster was third
(1:53.59) while Whitworth College (Wash.)
freshman Emmanuel Bofa placed fourth
(1:54.03).
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater
senior Joe Boberschmidt finished fifth
(1:54.18), Elizabethtown College (Pa.)
junior Drew Graybeal sixth (1:54.18),
University of Wisconsin-Superior junior
Matt Kramer seventh (1:54.22) and Mount
Union College (Ohio) senior Ryan Garro
eighth (1:54.48).
