Men's Discus Recap

OSHKOSH, Wis. – Continuing a long line of success in the throwing events for his school, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater junior Dan Hytinen captured the men’s discus title at the 2007 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Hytinen, registering his winning throw on his last attempt in the finals, won with a moon toss of 178 -0, the best effort in the NCAA Division III this season. Hytinen is the third Warhawk to gain a men’s individual throwing national championship since 2003, joining former standouts Ross Kapp and Jeremy Wendt who won the hammer three times from 2003 to 2006.

Mount Union College's (Ohio) Justin Rodhe, who had the best throw in the preliminaries at 168-4, took second. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Bobby Riley ended third in 160-2.
