Men's Javelin Recap |
OSHKOSH,
Wis. - George Fox University (Ore.)
sophomore Joel Krebs uncorked a winner
on his first throw to capture his first
NCAA Division III men’s javelin championship
at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
Krebs was second as a freshman in 2006.
Krebs’ toss of 198-8 outdistanced the
best effort of regular-season leader
Ken Ciolek of State University of New
York-Brockport State as competitors
endured a sudden deluge of wet weather
while throwing almost directly into
a steady wind.
Ciolek was second at 195-11 with Krebs’
Pacific Coast sophomore rival Kory Kemp
of Whitworth College (Wash.) in third
(191-2). Steve Blum of Coast Guard Academy
(Conn.) took fourth (190-10) and Linfield
College (Ore.) freshman Ryan Bronson
was fifth (190-9).
