Women's 1500-Meter Run Recap

OSHKOSH, Wis. – With a diving attempt over the finish line, senior Marcia Taddy from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville won the 1,500-meter run by .01 of a second over senior Amber Druien from North Central College (Ill.).

Druien, the returning champion led for most of the final lap before Taddy caught her right at the tape in a time of 4:27.04. Druien’s second-place time was 4:27.05. Taddy, who became the Pioneers first national champion in the 1,500-meter run, finished sixth at last year’s national championship.

Sophomore Emma Dreis from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville followed closely behind with a third-place time of 4:27.55 and junior Catherine Beck from Tufts University (Pa.) with a fourth-place time of 4:27.55. Beck finished second last season.

Competing as the only freshman in the event, Olga Kondratjeva from Williams College (Mass.) finished in fifth-place in a time of 4:30.39.

The top-eight place finishers included junior Meghan Nolan from State University of New York-Geneseo in a sixth-place time of 4:30.39, senior Callie PaStarr from Macalester College (Minn.) in a seventh-place time of 4:33.20 and senior Andrea Gelle from St. Olaf College (Minn.) in an eighth-place time of 4:33.20.
