OSHKOSH, Wis. – Following the lead of their teammates in the hammer throw, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh sophomore Amanda Donath and senior Nadine Pieske finished first and third in the 400-meter dash in times of 54.68 and 55.08, respectively.
In Friday’s hammer throw competition (May 25), juniors Terri Schwamb and Rebecca Masephol accomplished the same feat for the Titans.
2006 champion junior Rachel Anderson of Illinois Wesleyan University took a big lead around the last bend before Donath made her move. Anderson still held a five-meter lead with about 50 meters left before Donath’s late charge caught her at the tape. Anderson finished with a time of 54.80 after capturing the title last year with a time of 54.98.
Finishing in fourth-place was freshman Hannah Baker from Wartburg College (Iowa) in a time of 55.13 and capturing fifth-place was senior Lisa Winkle from Calvin College (Mich.) in a time of 55.82.
Rounding out the All-America performances in the 400-meter run were freshman Victoria Lawson from Salisbury University (Md.) with a sixth-place time of 55.89, junior Jessica Bonelli from The College of New Jersey with a seventh-place time of 56.48 and sophomore Staci Jackson from Texas Lutheran University with an eighth-place time of 56.50.
At the 2006 NCAA Division III championship Pieske finished second, Winkle fourth and Bonelli fifth.
