We ran a great team race at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Oct. 16!

Christy Cazzola finished third among 499 runners as UW-Oshkosh tied for second-place in the team standings. The University of Minnesota-Duluth won the 36-team meet with 89 points, while UW-Oshkosh and the University of Chicago finished in second with 116.

We were solid upfront and had the best fifth runner in the meet. Our goal was to place our top five runners in the top 40 and we were in the top 36.

UW-Oshkosh is currently ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III by the USTFCCCA.

Our next meet is at the WIAC Championship on Oct. 29 in Eau Claire.

On Oct. 2, the UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team competed at the prestigious Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. We finished third with 115 points, behind NCAA Division I schools Oakland University (Mich.) and West Virginia University. This meet gave us the opportunity to compete against many Division 1 schools. I was very proud of our team. We embraced the competition and six of our runners had career bests. We were led by sophomore Christy Cazzola who finished fourth in a time of 17:54 over the 5,000-meter course.

Our next meet is our home meet the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Oct. 16 at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne. The Men race at 10:30 a.m. and the women at 11:15 a.m. Forty teams from a seven-state area will be participating.

The 2010 cross country season is off to a successful start!

We captured the nine-team Midwest Open held Sept. 11 in Kenosha with 26 points. We placed five women in the top 10.

Times were very good considering the rain and mud. It was a fun day to race!

This Saturday (Sept. 18), we compete at the UW-Whitewater Invitational. We will be resting our top 10 runners. This will give other runners a chance to step up and be a scorer for the team.

Our 2010 roster consists of 27 women.
