Treadwell Named All-American Scholar
UW-Oshkosh’s
Cheryl Treadwell (Sr. • Brookfield) was one of 371 student-athletes
named to the National Golf Coaches Association’s (NGCA) 2006
All-American Scholar Team. The squad is comprised of women’s
collegiate golfers from NCAA Division I, II and III schools.
The criteria for selection to the NGCA’s All-American Scholar
Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The
minimum cumulative grade point average is 3.50 and student-athletes
must have completed in at least 50 percent of their college’s
regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Treadwell owns a 3.84 cumulative grade point average as a finance
major. She is a three-time NGCA Scholar All-American and has been
recognized on UW-Oshkosh's Dean's List five semesters and the school's
Honor Roll once. Last fall, Treadwell was named the winner of the
WIAC’s Judy Kruckman Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of
the Year Award.
Treadwell, a two-year team captain, helped UW-Oshkosh to a second-place
finish at the 2005 WIAC championships by placing 20th in the individual
competition. She received NGCA All-America honorable mention recognition
during the 2003-04 season when UW-Oshkosh finished fourth at the
NCAA Division III Championship.
Treadwell claimed the top individual honor at the 2002 WIAC Championship,
helping the Titans to the team title. She received all-WIAC first
team status in 2004.
Other WIAC selections to the NGCA’s 2006 All-American Scholar
Team were Courtney Timblin of UW-Stevens Point and Kendall Egnarski
and Diana Schmidt of UW-Whitewater.
Earlier this summer, Treadwell was selected to the 2006 ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-District Five College Division Women's
At-Large Team.

Treadwell Receives Academic All-District Honors
UW-Oshkosh
golfer Cheryl Treadwell (Sr. • Brookfield) was among four
WIAC student-athletes named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District Five College Division Women's At-Large Team,
as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America
(CoSIDA).
Treadwell and UW-Eau Claire ice hockey player Amanda Schultz were
first team selections, while UW-La Crosse gymnast Nina Schubert
and UW-Stevens Point ice hockey player Amy Statz were second team
honorees.
Treadwell owns a 3.776 cumulative grade point average as a finance
major. She is a four-time National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA)
Scholar All-American and has been recognized on UW-Oshkosh's Dean's
List six semesters. Last fall, Treadwell was named the winner of
the WIAC’s Judy Kruckman Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete
Award.

Treadwell,
who is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and UW-Oshkosh's Business Honor
Society, helped the Titans to WIAC titles in 2002 and 2003. She
took first place in the individual competition at the league championship
in 2002 and third in 2003. Treadwell received
NGCA All-America honorable mention recognition during the 2003-04
season when UW-Oshkosh finished fourth at the NCAA Division III
Championship.
The all-district team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division
III and NAIA student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana
and Minnesota and is voted on by members of CoSIDA. The at-large
program includes student-athletes in the sports of golf, gymnastics,
ice hockey, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.
To be eligible, a student-athletes must be a varsity starter or
key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on
a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings
at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports
information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952,
CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000
student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA. |
Young Named To NCAA All-America Team
UW-Oshkosh’s Jennifer Young (Jr. • Salem)
has been named as a second team selection on the National Golf Coaches
Association’s (NGCA) 2006 NCAA Division III Women’s
Golf All-America Team.
The NGCA selected 11 players to its NCAA Division III All-America
squad, including Young who was voted to the second team for the
third consecutive season.
Methodist College (N.C.), which captured this year's NCAA Division
III title, had three players receive All-America accolades, including
first team selections Katie Dick and Charlotte Williams. The Lady
Monarchs also had Heather Martin named to the second team.
Joining Dick and Williams on the first team were Susan Choi of Wellesley
College (Mass.), Sarah Gates of DePauw University (Ind.), Maggie
Loney of UW-Eau Claire and Katie Tewell of Franklin College (Ind.).
Kelly Groff of Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.), Megan Sobotta
of UW-Eau Claire, Jen Stork of Buena Vista College (Iowa) joined
Martin and Young on the second team.
Young, UW-Oshkosh’s first multiple All-American, finished
15th at the 2006 NCAA Division III Championship held May 9-12 in
Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla. She averaged 80.3 strokes per round during
the 2005-06 season and captured second-place finishes at the Augustana
College Invitational held Sept. 1 and the Carthage College Invitational
held Sept. 23. Young also placed sixth at the WIAC Championship
held Oct. 1-2.
In 2004-05, she placed 18th at the 2005
NCAA Division III Championship held May 10-13 in Southern Pines,
N.C. She averaged 80.4 strokes per round during the 2004-05 season
and captured the individual title at the Hickory Point Invitational
held April 22-23 in Decatur, Ill.
In 2003-04, Young finished 34th at the NCAA Division III Championship
to help UW-Oshkosh to a fourth-place standing. She averaged 82.3
strokes per round that season and finished first at the Carthage
College Invitational.
Young was one of 10 golfers selected
to the NCAA Division III All-Region III team and one of five golfers
voted to the All-WIAC squad. UW-Oshkosh golfers named to the All-WIAC

Young Places 15th At NCAA Championship
UW-Oshkosh’s Jennifer Young (Jr. • Salem)
finished 15th out of 60 participants at the NCAA Division III Women's
Golf Championship held Tuesday through Friday (May 9-12) at the
Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
Young took 327 shots, 35 over par,
to rank 15th in the 72-hole tournament. She posted 18-hole scores
of 79, 86, 83 and 79. Young finished 18th at the event in 2005 and
34th in 2004.
Charlotte Williams of Methodist College
(N.C.) claimed the individual title with 308 shots, 16 over par.
Williams, who also captured medallist honors a year ago, compiled
18-hole scores of 77, 76, 76 and 79. Methodist College also swept
the next two individual places as Katie Dick and Colleen Walsh tied
for second with 312 strokes, 20 over par.
Methodist College led from start to
finish to win its seventh straight NCAA Division III team title.
The Monarchs took 1,240 shots in the tournament after registering
18-hole scores of 308, 307, 313 and 312. Gustavus Adolphus College
(Minn.) finished second with 1,316 strokes, while DePauw University
(Ind.) placed third with 1,317, Wartburg College (Iowa) fourth with
1,326 and UW-Eau Claire fifth with 1,357.

Young Selected To Play In NCAA Championship
UW-Oshkosh’s Jennifer Young (Jr. • Salem)
has been selected to play in the 2006 NCAA Division III Women’s
Golf Championship. The 72-hole tournament will be held Tuesday (May
9) through Friday (May 12) at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort
in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
This year’s championship will consist of both team and individual
competition. The NCAA picked 10 teams and 10 individuals, not from
selected teams, to compete in the event.
Young is making her third NCAA Division III Championship appearance
after finishing 18th in 2005 and 36th in 2004. This season, the
two-time NCAA Division III All-America second team selection has
averaged 79.87 strokes for her 15 18-hole rounds.
In addition to Young, other individual selections for this year’s
championship were Susan Choi of Wellesley College (Mass.), Maureen
Hardwick of the University of St. Thomas (Minn.), Chrissy Helms
of Anderson University (Ind.), Elizabeth Kreger of Albion College
(Mich.), Megan Mattia of St. Mary’s College (Ind.), Kara Solem
of Mount Holyoke College (Mass.), Jennifer Stork of Buena Vista
University (Iowa), Katie Tewell of Franklin College (Ind.) and Whitney
Ueno of Willamette University (Ore.).
Selected for the team competition were Allegheny College (Pa.),
DePauw University (Ind.), Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.), Hardin-Simmons
University (Texas), Illinois Wesleyan University, Mary Hardin-Baylor
University (Texas), six-time defending champion Methodist College
(N.C.), Southwestern University (Texas), UW-Eau Claire and Wartburg
College (Iowa).
UW-Oshkosh finished fourth in the team standings at the 2004 NCAA
Division III Championship and fifth in 2003.

Treadwell Named WIAC Scholar-Athlete Of The Year
UW-Oshkosh's Cheryl Treadwell (Sr. • Brookfield)
has been named the winner of the 2005 WIAC Judy Kruckman Women's

Treadwell is majoring in finance and maintains a 3.84 grade point
average. She is a three-time National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA)
Scholar All-American and has been recognized on UW-Oshkosh's Dean's
List five semesters and the school's Honor Roll once.
Treadwell, a two-year team captain, helped UW-Oshkosh to a second-place

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman, who
served as Assistant Commissioner for the WIAC from 1996-98. Prior
to this appointment, she functioned as Commissioner of the Wisconsin
Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference from 1984-96.
In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete
must have a minimum 3.25 grade point average, be in their last year
of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and
have competed for a minimum of two years.

Titans Tie For Second Place At WIAC Championship
|
UW-Oshkosh owned two of the top seven individual
finishers and tied for second place at the WIAC Women’s
Golf Championship held Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 1-2) at the
Nemadji Golf Course in Superior.
UW-Eau Claire totaled 628 strokes, 52 over par, to successfully
defend its title in the 36-hole tournament. It was the fourth
WIAC championship for the Blugolds.
UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater tied for second place in the seven-team
tournament with 665 strokes, 89 over par. UW-Stevens Point finished
fourth with 667 strokes, while UW-River Falls placed fifth with
686, UW-Platteville sixth with 705 and UW-Superior seventh with
729.
UW-Eau Claire’s Maggie Loney took just 144 shots to cruise
to the individual championship and become the first person in
WIAC history to win consecutive titles. Loney’s 144 strokes
is exactly par for course. UW-Platteville’s Ahna Hendrickson
finished second with 153 strokes, nine over par.
Liz Buske (So. • Stoughton) and Jennifer Young (Jr. •
Salem) led UW-Oshkosh by finishing in a tie for sixth place
with 160 strokes, 16 over par. The Titans also had Jessica Tiffe
(So. • Brookfield) rank 17th with 172 strokes, Cheryl
Treadwell (Sr. • Brookfield) 20th with 174 and Megan Scherg
(Fr. • Kimberly) 23rd with 180. A total of 41 golfers
competed in the tournament.
UW-Whitewater’s Brett Weber was named Coach of the Year
at the championship, while UW-Oshkosh’s Treadwell received
the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
UW-Oshkosh resumes its 2005-06 season in April, with the highlight
hopefully being an appearance at the NCAA Division III Championship
in May. |
Titans Take Second Place At UW-Whitewater Invitational
The UW-Oshkosh women’s golf team lost a six-stroke
lead after 18 holes of competition and finished second at the UW-Whitewater
Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 24-25) at the Prairie
Woods Golf Course in Avalon.
Illinois Wesleyan University won the 36-hole tournament with 642
strokes, 66 over par. UW-Oshkosh finished second with 652 strokes,
while UW-Eau Claire placed third with 664, Illinois College fourth
with 673 and Carthage College fifth with 674. A total of 17 teams
competed in the tournament, which UW-Oshkosh led 316-322 over Illinois
Wesleyan University after 18 holes.
UW-Oshkosh’s Jennifer Young (Jr. • Salem) finished second
in the individual competition with 152 strokes, eight over par.
UW-Eau Claire’s Maggie Loney took just 144 swings to capture
medalist honors. Loney’s 144 strokes is exactly par for course.
In addition to Young, UW-Oshkosh had Megan Scherg (Fr. • Kimberly)
finish 10th with 162 strokes, Jessica Tiffe (So. • Brookfield)
and Cheryl Treadwell (Sr. • Brookfield) 21st with 170 and
Liz Buske (So. • Stoughton) 25th with 171. A total of 98 golfers
participated in the tournament.

Titans Claim Carthage College Invitational Title
UW-Oshkosh benefited from three
second-place individual finishes and captured the team title at the Carthage
College Women's Golf Invitational held Friday (Sept. 23) at the Brighton
Dale Links Golf Course in Kansasville.
UW-Oshkosh won the 18-hole event with 326
strokes, 38 over par. UW-Eau Claire finished second in the 11-team tournament
with 339 strokes, while Illinois Wesleyan University listed third with
340 strokes, Robert Morris College (Ill.) fourth with 351 and Carthage
College and UW-Whitewater fifth with 356 each.
UW-Eau Claire's Meghan Sobotta claimed the
top individual spot with 78 strokes, six over par. She was followed in
second place by the 81 strokes of UW-Oshkosh golfers Megan Scherg (Fr.
• Kimberly), Cheryl Treadwell (Sr. • Brookfield) and Jennifer
Young (Jr. • Salem).
UW-Oshkosh also had Jessica Tiffe (So. •
Brookfield) finish eighth with 83 strokes and Liz Buske (So. • Stoughton)
31st with 93.
Titans Rank Sixth At Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational
The UW-Oshkosh women's golf team
finished sixth out of 24 squads at the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational
held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 17-18) at the Ironwood Country Club in
Normal, Ill.
DePauw University (Ind.) totaled 601 strokes,
25 over par, during the 36-hole tournament to capture the team title,
while Illinois Wesleyan University finished second with 609 and UW-Eau
Claire third with 615.
Completing the top-10 teams were fourth-place
University of Indianapolis (Ind.) with 622 strokes, fifth-place Southern
Illinois University-Edwardsville with 630, sixth-place University of Southern
Indiana and UW-Oshkosh with 631, eighth-place UW-Stevens Point with 639,
Franklin College (Ind.) with 641 and Rend Lake College (Ill.) with 642.
Jennifer Young (Jr. • Salem) led all
UW-Oshkosh golfers with a 10th-place finish. Young recorded 151 strokes,
seven over par, after posting 18-hole rounds of 76 and 75. The Titans
also had Jessica Tiffe (So. • Brookfield) finish 29th with 158 strokes,
Liz Buske (So. • Stoughton) and Cheryl Treadwell (Sr. • Brookfield)
39th with 161 and Megan Scherg (Fr. • Kimberly) 70th with 168.
Katie Tewell of Franklin College took medalist
honors with 137 strokes, seven under par, while Sarah Gates of DePauw
University finished second with 146.
Titans Capture UW-Oshkosh Invitational Title
Cheryl Treadwell (Sr. •
Brookfield) took the top individual award as the UW-Oshkosh women's golf
team rallied to win its own invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept.
10-11) at the Westridge Golf Course in Neenah.
UW-Oshkosh finished first in the 10-team
tournament after overcoming a three-stroke deficit (328-331) to first-day
leader UW-Eau Claire. The Titans took 15 fewer shots (338-353) than the
Blugolds on the second day of competition to win the 36-hole event with
669 strokes, 93 over par. UW-Eau Claire, the 2004 UW-Oshkosh Invitational
champion, finished second with 681 strokes.
Rounding out the team finishes were third-place
UW-Whitewater with 702 strokes, fourth-place UW-Stevens Point with 713,
fifth-place UW-River Falls with 726, sixth-place Ripon College with 762,
seventh-place UW-Platteville and UW-Superior with 764, ninth-place St.
Norbert College with 807 and 10th-place Carroll College with 812.
Treadwell recorded 18-holes rounds of 77
and 85 to win the individual title with 162 strokes, 18 over par. UW-Eau
Claire swept the next three positions as Meghan Sobotta finished second
with 163 strokes and Maggie Loney and Jessica Thompson third with 164.
Loney captured the individual title at last year's UW-Oshkosh Invitational.
In addition to Treadwell, UW-Oshkosh also
had Jennifer Young (Jr. • Salem) finish fifth with 165 strokes,
Jessica Tiffe (So. • Brookfield) sixth with 168, Liz Buske (So.
• Stoughton) 11th with 175 and Megan Scherg (Fr. • Kimberly)
14th with 177.
Titans Take Fourth At UW-Eau Claire Invitational
The UW-Oshkosh women’s
golf team fell one position on the second day of competition and finished
fourth at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept.
3-4) in Eau Claire.
UW-Oshkosh took 674 shots, 94 over par, in the 36-hole tournament, counting
328 at Mill Run Golf Course on Saturday and 346 at Wild Ridge Golf Course
on Sunday. The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) finished first among the
17 competing teams with 648 strokes, while Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.)
placed second with 650 and Illinois Wesleyan University third with 672.
Illinois Wesleyan University finished eighth and the University of St.
Thomas ninth at last year’s NCAA Division III Championship.
Rounding out the top team listings were fifth-place UW-Eau Claire with
675 strokes, sixth-place Loras College (Iowa) with 694, seventh-place
UW-Stevens Point with 697, eighth-place Luther College (Iowa) with 712,
ninth-place College of St. Benedict (Minn.) with 714 and 10th-place Carleton
College (Minn.) with 715.
UW-Oshkosh’s highest individual finish came from Jennifer Young
(Jr. • Salem), who totaled 160 shots, 15 over par, to tie Maureen
Hardwick of the University of St. Thomas and Meghan Sobotta of UW-Eau
Claire for third place. Maggie Loney of UW-Eau Claire won the individual
championship with 153 strokes, while Kelli Goff of Gustavus Adolphus College
finished second with 155.
In addition to Young’s performance, UW-Oshkosh also had Jessica
Tiffe (So. • Brookfield) finish 25th with 170 strokes, Cheryl Treadwell
(Sr. • Brookfield) 29th with 171, Megan Scherg (Fr. • Kimberly)
35th with 173 and Liz Buske (So. • Stoughton) 58th with 185.
Titans Open Season With Third-Place Finish
Jennifer Young (Jr. • Salem)
placed second in the individual competition as the UW-Oshkosh women's
golf team finished third at the Augustana College Invitational held Thursday
(Sept. 1) at the Emeis Golf Course in Davenport, Iowa. It was the opening
meet of the 2005 season for the Titans.
Illinois Wesleyan University, which finished
eighth at last year's NCAA Division III Championship, captured the team
title with 315 strokes, 27 over par. Illinois College finished second
in the 13-team meet with 327 strokes, while UW-Oshkosh ranked third with
331, St. Ambrose University (Iowa) fourth with 333 and Carthage College
fifth with 342.
Young, a two-time NCAA Division III All-America
second team selection, totaled 77 shots, five over par, en route to her
second-place listing. Young shared second place with Illinois Wesleyan
University teammates Andrea Johnson and Megan Teschner. Carey Cappel of
Illinois College won the individual title with 75 strokes, three over
par.
UW-Oshkosh also had Jessica Tiffe (So. •
Brookfield) finish 10th with 82 strokes, Megan Scherg (Fr. • Kimberly)
and Cheryl Treadwell (Sr. • Brookfield) 24th with 86 strokes and
