Scherg Named All-American Scholar
| UW-Oshkosh’s
Megan Scherg (Jr. • Kimberly) has been named to the 2008
National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar
Team. Scherg was one of 56 NCAA Division III student-athletes
to earn the honor for outstanding performance on and off the golf
course.
Scherg, who owns a 3.60 cumulative grade point average as an Organizational
Administration major, averaged 86.3 strokes per 18 holes to earn
All-WIAC second team honors for the Titans this past year.
Scherg’s top outing was a sixth-place finish at the UW-Oshkosh
Invitational held Sept. 8-9. She totaled 168 strokes after posting
18-hole scores of 83 and 85. Scherg also placed 13th with 171
strokes at the WIAC Championship held Oct. 6-7.
Other WIAC student-athletes recognized by the NGCA were UW-Eau
Claire’s Sarah Hansen, UW-Stevens Point’s Michelle
Pascavis and UW-Whitewater’s Diana Schmidt.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are
some of the most stringent in college athletics. Candidates must
maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 and
compete in 66 percent of the college’s competitive rounds
during the year.

Titans Conclude Season With 12th-Place
Finish
|   The UW-Oshkosh women's golf team concluded its 2007-08
season with a 12th-place finish at the Illinois Wesleyan University
Spring Fling held Saturday (April 19) and Sunday (April 20) at the
Ironwood Country Club in Normal, Ill.
Host Illinois Wesleyan University won the team title with 638 strokes
(62 over par). DePauw University (Ind.) earned second place in the
16-team meet with 639.
William Woods University (Mo.) finished third with 651 strokes,
Olivet College (Mich.) fourth with 652 and St. Ambrose University
(Iowa) fifth with 657. UW-Oshkosh placed 12th with 691 strokes (115
over par).
Kim Sippl (Fr. • Omro) paced UW-Oshkosh with
a 27th-place finish. She totaled 166 strokes (22 over par) in the
36-hole tournament, including a 79 on the first day of competition.
The Titans' Liz Buske (Sr. • Stoughton) tallied rounds of
81 and 89 to finish 42nd with 170 strokes.
Ohio Northern University's Meagan Brennan and Olivet College's Amanda
Sanders tied for the top individual position with scores of 151.
Third-place totals of 153 went to UW-Eau Claire’s Meghan Sobotta
and DePauw University's Kristen Kriegshauser. Lindenwood University’s
(Mo.) Tara Peterman tallied 156 strokes to capture fifth place.
UW-Oshkosh's Danielle Vanderhill (So. • Wind Lake) and Emily
Wichman (So. • Neenah) tied for 63rd place with scores of
179. Vanderhill posted rounds of 90 and 89 while Wichman shot an
88 and a 91.

Titans Place Third In Own Invitational
Buske, Scherg Receive All-WIAC Honors

Liz Buske (Sr. • Stoughton) and Megan Scherg (Jr. •
Kimberly) of UW-Oshkosh have been selected to the 2007 All-WIAC
Women’s Golf Team.
The WIAC named 10 golfers to its all-league squad, with Buske and
Scherg recognized as members of the second team. Joining the UW-Oshkosh
duo on the second team were Torie Ives of UW-Eau Claire, Emily Kuiper
of UW-Whitewater and Sarah Mosher of UW-Stevens Point.
It was the second All-WIAC second team award for both Buske and
Scherg. Buske also received mention during the 2004-05 season and
Scherg during the 2006-07 campaign.
Michelle Pascavis of UW-Stevens Point led the five selections to
the first team. Pascavis was named Player of the Year after recording
an 18-hole stroke average of 78.8 and leading the Pointers to a
first-place finish at the WIAC Championship held Oct. 6-7 in Watertown.
Other members of the first team were Diana Schmidt of UW-Whitewater,
Meghan Sobotta of UW-Eau Claire and Amy Stiloski and Jessica Urban
of UW-Stevens Point.
Scherg finished 13th and Buske 14th to help UW-Oshkosh to a second-place
finish at the 2007 WIAC Championship. Buske averaged 85.1 strokes
for every 18 holes played this past fall and Scherg 85.4.
UW-Stevens Point’s Matt Interbartolo was voted WIAC Coach
of the Year for the second straight season, while UW-Eau Claire’s
Sarah Hansen received the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Award. Buske was also one of eight golfers named to the All-WIAC
Sportsmanship Team.

Titans Post Third Straight
Second-Place Finish At WIAC Championship

UW-Oshkosh had
three of the top-14 individual performers and finished second in
the team standings at the WIAC Women’s Golf Championship held
Saturday (Oct. 6) and Sunday (Oct. 7) at the Windwood of Watertown
Golf Course in Watertown.
UW-Stevens Point totaled 656 strokes, 80 over par, during the 36-hole
tournament to claim its first WIAC title since 1997 and second overall.
The victory earned the Pointers the league’s automatic bid
to the NCAA Division III Championship on May 13-16 at the Centennial
Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa.
UW-Oshkosh compiled 687 strokes, 111 over par, to place second in
the seven-team tournament for the third straight year. UW-Whitewater
finished third with 690 strokes, three-time defending champion UW-Eau
Claire fourth with 696, UW-Platteville fifth with 708, UW-Superior
sixth with 717 and UW-Stout seventh with 725.
UW-Eau Claire’s Meghan Sobotta swung a variety of golf clubs
159 times to win the individual championship by one stroke over
Michelle Pascavis and Jessica Urban of UW-Stevens Point. Sobotta’s
victory marked the fifth straight year that a golfer from UW-Eau
Claire captured the league’s individual championship.
Amy Stiloski placed fourth among the 45 individual competitors with
164 strokes, Marcie Anderson of UW-Superior fifth with 165 and Molly
Loney of UW-Eau Claire sixth with 167. UW-Eau Claire's Torie Ives,
UW-Platteville's Michelle Ebert and UW-Stevens Point's Amanda Dlugopolski
shared seventh place with 168 strokes.
UW-Oshkosh was led by Danielle Vanderhill’s (So. • Wind
Lake) 10th-place finish. She totaled 169 strokes, 25 over par, to
share the ranking with UW-Whitewater's Emily Kuiper.
The Titans also had Megan Scherg (Jr. • Kimberly) finish 13th
with 171 strokes, Liz Buske (Sr. • Stoughton) tie for 14th
with 172 and Kim Sippl (Fr. • Omro) and Emily Wichman (So.
• Neenah) tie for 22nd with 179.
The WIAC Championship ended UW-Oshkosh’s fall season. The
Titans return to action on April 18 when they host an invitational
at the Westridge Golf Club in Neenah. |
Titans Take Fourth At UW-Stevens Point
Invitational
|   Liz Buske (Sr. • Stoughton) listed ninth in
the individual rankings as the UW-Oshkosh women's golf team finished
fourth at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational held Saturday (Sept.
29) and Sunday (Sept. 30) at the Stevens Point Country Club in Stevens
Point.
UW-Stevens Point won the eight-team
tournament with 641 strokes, 57 over par. The Pointers recorded
18-hole rounds of 317 and 324.
UW-Whitewater finished second in the
team standings with 670 strokes, while UW-Eau Claire placed third
with 685, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 698 and UW-Superior fifth with
723. The Titans posted 18-hole rounds of 347 and 35 to finish 114
over par.
UW-Stevens Point had four of the top-eight
individual finishers, including Michelle Pascavis who placed first
with 153 strokes, seven over par. She carded 18-hole rounds of 75
and 78.
UW-Whitewater's Emily Kuiper took second
place with 154 strokes, while Ripon College's Gina Hackl, UW-Stevens
Point's Jessica Urban and UW-Eau Claire's Meghan Sobotta and Torie
Ives all finished third with 161.
UW-Oshkosh's Buske counted 18-hole
rounds of 85 and 82 to finish ninth among the 47 golfers with 167
strokes, 21 over par.
The Titans also had Megan Scherg (Jr.
• Kimberly) rank 13th with 172 strokes, Danielle Vanderhill
(So. • Wind Lake) 23rd with 181, Emily Wichman (So. •
Neenah) 24th with 182 and Kim
Sippl (Fr. • Omro) 28th with 188.

Titans Rank Seventh At UW-Whitewater
Invitational
  The UW-Oshkosh women's golf team finished seventh
at the UW-Whitewater Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 22) and Sunday
(Sept. 23) at the Prairie Woods Golf Course in Avalon.
UW-Stevens Point posted 18-hole rounds
of 326 and 312 to claim the team title with 638 strokes, 62 over
par.
Illinois Wesleyan University finished
second with 640 strokes, while Lewis University (Ill.) listed third
with 656, UW-Whitewater fourth with 673 and Millikin University
(Ill.) fifth with 703. UW-Oshkosh ranked seventh in the 14-team
field with 713 strokes, 137 over par.
UW-Stevens Point owned two of the top-three
golfers as Jessica Urban finished first with 151 strokes, seven
over par, and Michelle Pascavis third with 155.
Jamie Siedlaczek of Lewis University
placed second with 154 strokes, 10 over par, while Amy Sachs of
Lewis University finished fourth with 157. Illinois Wesleyan University
had three of its golfers tie for fifth place as Kristi Katz, Maddie
Murphy and Eric Woodall compiled scores of 161.
UW-Oshkosh was led by Emily Wichman's
(So. • Neenah) 28th-place score of 176 strokes, 32 over par.
She took 88 shots on each of the 18-hole rounds.
UW-Oshkosh also had Kim Sippl (Fr.
• Omro) and Danielle Vanderhill (So. • Wind Lake) tie
for 32nd place with 178 strokes and Liz
Buske (Sr. • Stoughton) finish 39th with 181. The tournament
consisted of 85 golfers. |

Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational
  UW-Oshkosh finished 13th out of 21 women's golf teams
at the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational held Saturday (Sept.
15) and Sunday (Sept. 16) at the Ironwood Country Club in Normal,
Ill.
NCAA Division II University of Southern Indiana took
the team title with 619 strokes, 43 over par. The Screaming Eagles
finished ninth at last year's event.
Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville placed second with 638
strokes, while UW-Stevens Point ranked third with 643, St. Ambrose
University (Iowa) fourth with 651 and Illinois Wesleyan University
fifth with 653. UW-Oshkosh shot 18-hole rounds of 340 and 341 to
finish 13th with 681 strokes, 105 over par.
Katie Tewell of Franklin College (Ind.) totaled 147 strokes, three
over par, to capture the individual title for the third consecutive
year. Meghan Sobotta of UW-Eau Claire finished second with 148 strokes.
The University of Southern Indiana had Jess Dooley place third with
149 strokes, Tara Wiley fourth with 153 and Kimmy Gottwald tie for
fifth with Megan Hood of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville
with 154.
Kim Sippl (Fr. • Omro) led all UW-Oshkosh golfers with a 27th-place
score of 164 strokes, 20 over par. She posted 18-hole rounds of
83 and 81.
The Titans also had Liz Buske (Sr. • Stoughton) finish 44th
with 167 strokes, Megan Scherg (Jr. • Kimberly) 57th with
172, Danielle Vanderhill (So. • Wind Lake) 89th with 181 and
Emily Wichman (So. • Neenah) 92nd with 183. The event featured
124 golfers.

event kicked off the 2007-08 season for the Titans.
UW-Stevens Point's Michelle Pascavis
took individual honors with 156 strokes, 10 over par. She shot 18-hole
rounds of 76 and 80. Jessica Urban of UW-Stevens Point finished
second with 160 strokes (14 over par), while Michelle Ebert of UW-Platteville
placed third with 161 and Buske and Diana Schmidt of UW-Whitewater
fourth with 164.
UW-Oshkosh also had Megan Scherg (Jr.
• Kimberly) finish sixth with 168 strokes, Kim Sippl (Fr.
• Omro) 10th with 174 and Danielle Vanderhill (So. •
Wind Lake) and Emily Wichman (So. • Neenah) 13th with 177.
