Titans Place
Fifth At NCAA Indoor Championship
All-America
performances in five events helped the UW-Oshkosh
women's track and field team finish fifth at the
NCAA Division III Indoor Championship held Friday
and Saturday (March 9-10) in Kolf Sports Center.
The Titans' ranking marked the 10th time in 12
years they had finished in the top five,
including 1994 and 1997 when the meet was also
held in Kolf Sports Center.
Wheaton College
(Mass.) scored 63 points to claim its third
consecutive NCAA Division III indoor title. The
Lyons' point total was the second-highest in the
17-year history of the national indoor meet,
bettered only by the 66 scored by Christopher
Newport University (Va.) in 1988. Wheaton College
tallied points in seven of the 14 events,
including first-place finishes in the triple
jump, 400 meter dash and the 1,600 meter relay.
UW-La Crosse
finished second in the field of 80 schools with
35 points, while Williams College (Mass.) was
third with 26, UW-Stevens Point fourth with 21
and Lincoln University (Pa.) and UW-Oshkosh fifth

meet, surpassing the 27-point spread between
champion Christopher Newport University and
second-place University of Massachusetts-Boston
in 1988.

accolades in both the triple jump and the 1,600
