Titans Repeat As Champion Of NCAA Power Rankings
UW-Oshkosh is
champion of the NCAA Division III women's outdoor track
and field power rankings for the second consecutive year.
Sponsored by the M-F Athletic
Company of Cranston, R.I., the power rankings are intended
to measure a team's dual-meet strength and overall depth
rather than strength in a national or conference meet where
teams rely on elite performances by a smaller number of
individuals.
UW-Oshkosh scored 211.03 points
to capture the 2007 outdoor crown. The Titans took last
year's title with 218.59 points. UW-Oshkosh finished second
in the 2007 indoor power rankings with 149.33 points.
Wartburg College (Iowa) finished
second in this year's outdoor power rankings with 207.89
points, while UW-La Crosse placed third with 205.19, UW-Eau
Claire fourth with 197.71 and Calvin College (Mich.) fifth
with 197.69.

North Central College (Ill.) with 191.70, ninth-place University

UW-Oshkosh Named All-Academic Team Of The Year
The United States
Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)
has selected UW-Oshkosh as its 2007 NCAA Division III Women's
Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team of the Year.
UW-Oshkosh earned the top award
after capturing the team title at the NCAA Division III
Championship held May 24-26 at J.J. Keller Field at Titan
Stadium in Oshkosh and having its student-athletes compile
a 3.290 cumulative grade point average during the spring
semester.
"Our
women's track and field program always strives for excellence
in academics and athletics," said UW-Oshkosh head coach
Deb Vercauteren. "To be named the NCAA Division III
All-Academic Outdoor Team of the Year is a tremendous honor.
It caps a great outdoor season for UW-Oshkosh women's track
and field."
UW-Oshkosh, which defeated
90 of its 92 outdoor opponents, was one of 73 NCAA Division
III schools honored by the USTFCCCA. Other WIAC schools
recognized for their athletic and academic accomplishments
were UW-La Crosse, UW-Platteville and UW-Whitewater.
The
USTFCCCA's NCAA
Division III All-Academic Outdoor Team of the Year award
is based on a combination of athletic and academic achievements,
with the top honor going to the team that had the best finish
at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship and also holding
the highest cumulative grade point average. A team must
carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade point average to
be nominated.
UW-Platteville
