Three Titans Receive All-WIAC Honors
  The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team had three players earn postseason recognition from the WIAC.
Selected to the 22-member all-league team were the Titans' Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha), Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard) and Nikki Reed (So. • Muskego).
It was the second All-WIAC award for Casey and the first for both Fiordellisi and Reed. Casey was an all-league selection in 2007.
Casey, a midfielder, started all 19 matches for the Titans and totaled 15 points on six goals and three assists. She tallied three goals in UW-Oshkosh's 5-0 win over UW-Superior on Oct. 10 and two goals and one assist in the Titans' 6-2 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Oct. 8.
In 2008, Casey started 10 of the 14 matches that she played in and registered nine points on four goals and one assist. In 2007, Casey started 17 of the 18 contests that she played in and accumulated eight points on three goals and two assists.
Fiordellisi, a forward, started all 19 contests for UW-Oshkosh and compiled 17 points on a team-leading eight goals and one assist. She ranked second in the WIAC with five match-winning goals.
In 2008, Fiordellisi started 10 of the 18 games that she played in and totaled 11 points on a team-best five goals and one assist.
Reed, a defender, started all 19 games for the Titans and recorded four points on one goal and two assists. Her lone goal, a match winner, came in UW-Oshkosh's 2-1 victory over UW-Stout on Oct. 3. Defensively, Reed helped UW-Oshkosh shut out five opponents and register a 1.53 goals against average.
In 2008, Reed started all 19 contests that she played in and tallied one assist.
League champion UW-Stevens Point had five players receive All-WIAC honors, while UW-Whitewater had four. Emily Gerber of UW-Whitewater was named the conference's Player of the Year.
UW-Stevens Point's Sheila Miech was named WIAC Coach of the Year, while UW-Superior's Elizabeth LeQue received the league's Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award.
UW-Oshkosh's Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) was one of nine selections to the WIAC's All-Sportsmanship Team.
UW-Oshkosh finished the 2009 season with a 9-8-2 record. The Titans tied for fourth place in the WIAC standings with a 4-3-1 record.

Overtime Goal Lifts Warhawks Past Titans In WIAC Tournament Opener
Titans To Host Warhawks In First Round Of WIAC Tournament
UW-Whitewater will be UW-Oshkosh's first obstacle when the Titans host the Warhawks in an opening round match of the WIAC Women's Soccer Tournament at 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 3) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
The teams shared fourth place in the WIAC's regular season standings with 4-3-1 records, but UW-Oshkosh (8-7-2) earned the tournament's fourth seed due to its 3-1 victory over UW-Whitewater (10-7-1) on Oct. 14 at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The Warhawks are seeded fifth in this year's six-team event.
Tuesday's contest is the 20th between UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater, but only the third in WIAC Tournament play. UW-Oshkosh has won eight of the last 10 meetings to lead the all-time series by a 12-5-2 tally. The teams battled each other in WIAC Tournaments held in 1993 and 2004.
Another first round match on Tuesday has sixth-seeded UW-Stout (5-13) visiting third-seeded UW-River Falls (9-9-1).
The top seeds for this year's tournament are UW-Stevens Point (13-3-1) and UW-Eau Claire (9-7-2). UW-Stevens Point went undefeated in eight WIAC contests to win the league's regular season title, while UW-Eau Claire posted a 6-2-1 record to finish second.
The WIAC Tournament will be re-seeded for Thursday's (Nov. 5) semifinal round. Those matches feature the lowest remaining seed playing at top-seeded UW-Stevens Point and the highest remaining seed playing at second-seeded UW-Eau Claire.
The championship match is scheduled for Saturday (Nov. 7) at the site of the highest remaining seed. The winner of the WIAC Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. |
Nagan Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor
UW-Oshkosh midfielder Steffanie Nagan (Jr. • Kaukauna) has been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Women's Soccer Team. Nagan, who was voted to the 35-member College Division squad by sports information directors within the region, was named to the third team.
This season, Nagan has played in all 18 matches for a UW-Oshkosh team that has compiled a 9-7-2 record. She has attempted three shots while helping the Titans tally five shutouts.
Last year, Nagan played in all 19 matches and totaled one assist. In 2007, Nagan played in 14 of the Titans' 19 matches and scored her lone career goal in an 8-0 victory over Lawrence University.
Nagan owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average as a broadfield natural science major. The four-time University Dean's List honoree is a member of SAIL, a UW-Oshkosh tutoring program for elementary school children.
The WIAC had three other players named to the 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Women's Soccer Team, midfielder Jackie Spees of UW-Stevens Point, defender Alyssa Walker of UW-Eau Claire and midfielder Kaitlin Arjes of UW-Stout. Spees was selected to the first team, Walker the second and Arjes the third.

  UW-River Falls held the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a season-low six shots during a 3-0 win over the Titans on Saturday (Oct. 17) in River Falls.
UW-River Falls (8-7-1/4-3 WIAC), which snapped UW-Oshkosh's five-match winning streak, took an early lead on Janae Baron's goal just 8:29 into play. Baron took a pass from Megan Church up the center of the field and slipped a shot past UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) for the goal.
The Falcons added to their lead on a goal by Church at the 27:55 mark of the match. Baron started the scoring play by beating two UW-Oshkosh defenders to the right corner of the field and sending the ball into the box. Carlin Bunting headed the pass to the left side of the goal, where Church settled the ball and kicked it into the net.
UW-River Falls held its 2-0 lead until Erin Lansverk scored off a pass from Jessi Larson at the 74:07 mark of the contest. Lansverk and Walder both raced out for a ball sent forward by Larson, but Lansverk won the sprint and flipped the ball into the goal.
UW-Oshkosh (8-5-2/4-2-1 WIAC) had Becca Blue (Fr. • Kimberly), Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha), Lindsey Collette (Fr. • Green Bay), Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa), Anna Guilfoil (So. • Madison) and Nikki Reed (So. • Muskego) attempt one shot each. The Titans earned five corner kicks.
UW-River Falls fired 16 shots and four corner kicks. Baron led the Falcons with four shots, while Church, Lansverk and Kayla Scott counted two each.
Walder saved eight shots while allowing all three goals. UW-River Falls goalkeeper Rachel Thompson stopped three shots to earn the shutout victory.
UW-Oshkosh plays at the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) on Sunday (Oct. 18).

Titans Continue Winning Trend
  Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa) scored two early goals as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team defeated UW-Whitewater, 3-1, on Wednesday (Oct. 14) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. It was the Titans' fifth straight win and the sixth in their last eight matches (6-1-1 record).
Erny put UW-Oshkosh (8-4-2/4-1-1) on top early with an unassisted goal just 8:25 into play. Erny doubled the Titans' advantage when she scored off a pass from Nikki Reed (So. • Muskego) at the 24:25 mark of the match. The goals were Erny's third and fourth of the season.
UW-Oshkosh held its two-goal lead until Becca Blue (Fr. • Kimberly) scored at the 70:49 mark of the contest. Blue's fourth goal of the season was assisted by Erny and Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha).
UW-Whitewater (7-6-1/2-3-1 WIAC) entered the scoring column when Emily Gerber tallied her WIAC-leading 17th goal of the season at the 72:34 mark of the match. Gerber's goal was assisted by Kayla Miller.
UW-Oshkosh launched 11 shots, including four by Erny and two each by Blue, Casey and Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard). The Titans were credited with just one corner kick.
UW-Whitewater attempted 13 shots, including four by Gerber and three by Elizabeth Orgovan. The Warhawks tallied 10 corner kicks, with six of them coming in the first half.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) registered five saves, while UW-Whitewater goalkeeper Jacqueline Piasecki recorded seven.

Titans Swat Yellowjackets
  Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha) registered her first career hat trick to lead the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over UW-Superior on Saturday (Oct. 10) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
Casey doubled her goal total for the season by scoring three times in the second half, including an unassisted 35-yard kick that entered the net as time expired. She also scored an unassisted goal at the 57:40 mark of the match and an assisted goal by Becca Blue (Fr. • Kimberly) at the 81:52 mark of the contest.
UW-Oshkosh (7-4-2/3-1-1 WIAC) opened the scoring on a goal by Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard) at the 13:35 mark of the game. Fiordellisi's team-leading eighth goal of the season was assisted by Anna Guilfoil (So. • Madison).
UW-Oshkosh's fourth goal of the match was scored by Guilfoil, who recorded an unassisted goal at the 81:17 mark of the contest. It was the first collegiate goal for Guilfoil.
UW-Oshkosh had advantages of 30-1 in shots and 6-0 in corner kicks. The Titans were led by the seven shots of Casey, six of both Fiordellisi and Lindsey Collette (Fr. • Green Bay) and four of Guilfoil. Sarah Johnson attempted UW-Superior's lone shot.
The Yellowjackets (1-12/0-6 WIAC) have lost their last 103 WIAC contests and their last 17 matches to UW-Oshkosh.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) went without a blocked shot as she counted her fourth shutout of the season. UW-Superior goalkeeper Felicia Bibeau saved 10 shots.

Titans Explode For Six Goals In Win Over Falcons
  Two goals and one assist from both Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha) and Nicole Strieker (Fr. • Janesville) led UW-Oshkosh to a 6-2 women's soccer victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Thursday (Oct. 8) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
UW-Oshkosh (6-4-2), which recorded its highest scoring output of the season, tallied three goals in each half as it handed Concordia University Wisconsin (8-4-2) its first loss in nine matches.
Casey scored her second goal of the season just 2:51 into play to give UW-Oshkosh a 1-0 lead. Receiving credit for an assist on the goal were Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa) and Kiley Hauck (Fr. • Hubertus).
The Falcons
tied the score when Lauren Straehler kicked a shot from Becky Ott into the goal at the 20:29 mark of the contest.
The stalemate lasted only 21 seconds as Strieker booted a shot from Casey into the net at the 20:50 mark of the match. Strieker gave UW-Oshkosh a 3-1 lead when she scored an unassisted goal at the 22:06 mark of the game. The goals were Strieker's third and fourth of the season.
UW-Oshkosh held its 3-1 advantage until Casey scored at the 74:06 mark of the match. Casey's third goal of the season was assisted by Strieker.
The Titans extended their lead to 4-1 on Sam Monahan's (Fr. • Pewaukee) unassisted goal at the 79:54 mark of the contest. It was the first collegiate goal for Monahan.
Concordia University Wisconsin, which has lost all nine meetings with UW-Oshkosh, cut its deficit to 5-2 on Ott's unassisted goal at the 82:54 mark of the contest.
UW-Oshkosh closed its scoring when Monahan fed Becca Blue (Fr. • Kimberly) for a goal with 1:17 remaining. The goal was Blue's third of the year.
UW-Oshkosh attempted 20 shots, including seven by Casey and two each by Blue, Strieker, Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard) and Anna Guilfoil (So. • Madison). Concordia University Wisconsin fired nine shots, including two each by Ott, Casey Pulver and Emily Waldorf.
A total of 10 goal keeping saves were made, six by Concordia University Wisconsin's Mary Ryan and four by UW-Oshkosh's Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha).

Reed Collects WIAC Defensive Player Of The Week Honor
UW-Oshkosh's Nikki Reed (So. • Muskego) was named the WIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Titans' 2-1 victory over UW-Stout on Oct. 3 in Menomonie. The award was based on contests held Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
Reed, a first-time WIAC Player of the Week honoree, booted a free kick into the goal with 45 seconds left to give UW-Oshkosh its win over UW-Stout.
Reed registered her first collegiate goal after a UW-Stout player was called for a trip. The 18-yard free kick was one of only two shots attempted by Reed in the contest.
Reed, a defender, played all 90 minutes against the Blue Devils. She helped limit UW-Stout without a goal for the first 82 minutes of action. The Blue Devils finished the match with 14 shots.
Eryn Lansverk of UW-River Falls was selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Week.

Titans, Big Blue Battle To Double-Overtime Tie
  The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team gave up a pair of one-goal leads and had to settle for a 2-2, double-overtime tie with Millikin University (Ill.) on Sunday (Sept. 27) in Decatur, Ill.
UW-Oshkosh (3-4-2) opened the scoring on Jessica Erny's (So. • Wauwatosa) unassisted goal at the 18:40 mark of the contest. It was the second goal of the season for Erny.
Millikin University (6-3-1) pulled even with the Titans on Nikki Smith's goal at the 30:48 mark of the match. Katie Mulderink was credited with starting the scoring play for the Big Blue.
UW-Oshkosh regained the lead when Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard) sailed an assisted ball from Erny and Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha) into the net at the 49:05 mark of the game. The goal was Fiordellisi's team-leading fifth of the year.
Millikin University bounced back to tie the score at 2-2 on a goal by Allison Horne at the 60:17 mark of the match. Horne's goal was assisted by Brittany Rohling.
Neither team found the goal during the final 29 minutes of regulation and the two 10-minute overtime periods.
Millikin University attempted 23 shots, with nine coming in the second half, six in the first half, five in the first overtime period and three in the second overtime period. The Big Blue were led by the six shots of Horne, five of Rohling and the four of Brittany Belrichard.
UW-Oshkosh totaled 10 shots, with five launched in the first half and five in the second. Kiley Hauck (Fr. • Hubertus) had three shots and Casey and Fiordellisi two each for the Titans.
Millikin University, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, posted a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The contest featured 10 saves by the goalkeepers as Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) blocked six shots for UW-Oshkosh and Natalie Robertaccio four for Millikin University.

UW-Oshkosh Shut Out By Seventh-Ranked Titans
  Emily Hinchman sailed all three of her shots into the goal as nationally ranked Illinois Wesleyan University shut out UW-Oshkosh, 5-0, on Saturday (Sept. 26) in Bloomington, Ill.
Illinois Wesleyan University (8-0-2), which posted its sixth shutout of the season, entered the match ranked seventh in the NCAA Division III by both D3soccer.com and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
UW-Oshkosh (3-4-1), which won the previous two meetings between the two teams, suffered its third shutout of the season.
Hinchman scored her goals in the first 20 minutes of play to give Illinois Wesleyan University a 3-0 lead at intermission. Hinchman gave her squad the early lead when she headed a ball off a corner kick into the net just 5:59 into the contest.
Hichman tripled Illinois Wesleyan University's advantage by scoring twice within a span of 71 seconds. She scored an assisted goal by Lauren Knaack at the 18:18 mark of the match and an unassisted goal at 19:31.
Alyssa Feulner gave the host Titans a 4-0 lead on an assisted goal by Knaack at the 46:35 mark of the game. Annmarie Dolak got help from Feulner and tallied Illinois Wesleyan University's final goal at the 51:11 mark of the contest.
UW-Oshkosh was held to seven shots, including six in the second half, and one corner kick. Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha) led the visiting Titans with two shots, while Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa), Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard), Steffanie Nagan (Jr. • Kaukauna), Nikki Reed (So. • Muskego) and Nicole Strieker (Fr. • Janesville) counted one each.
Illinois Wesleyan University totaled 14 shots, including nine in the first half, and six corner kicks. Dolak, Hinchman and Carlie Hoekstra led the host Titans with three shots each.
Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) of UW-Oshkosh and Haley Hergert of Illinois Wesleyan University both saved five shots while protecting their respective goal.
UW-Oshkosh remains in Illinois to play at Millikin University on Sunday (Sept. 27).

Titans Score Twice In Final 20 Minutes To Oust Green Knights
  Goals by Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard) and Kelsey Spaith (So. • Madison) in the final 20 minutes of play propelled the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over St. Norbert College on Sunday (Sept. 20) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
Fiordellisi gave UW-Oshkosh (3-3-1) a 1-0 lead when she scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season at the 71:28 mark of the match. Less than five minutes later, Spaith doubled UW-Oshkosh's advantage when she tallied her first collegiate goal at the 75:58 mark of the contest. Both goals were unassisted.
The first half went scoreless despite seven shots by UW-Oshkosh and five by St. Norbert College (3-3). The Titans owned all three of the period's corner kicks.
UW-Oshkosh finished the contest with 17 shots, including four by both Fiordellisi and Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa) and two by both Spaith and Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha). St. Norbert College, which suffered its seventh straight loss to UW-Oshkosh, totaled nine shots. Ann Maki launched six shots to lead the Green Knights.

Titans Rally To Gain Overtime Tie With Pioneers
  Nicole Strieker (Fr. • Janesville) scored as time expired in regulation to help the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team earn a 1-1 double overtime tie with UW-Platteville on Friday (Sept. 18) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
Nikki Reed (So. • Muskego) got UW-Oshkosh's match-tying goal started when she served the ball to the right side of the box with six seconds left. Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa) then headed the ball over to Strieker who kicked a 15-yard shot from the middle of the box into the net. The goal was Strieker's second of the season.
UW-Oshkosh (2-3-1/1-1-1 WIAC) attempted 24 shots before UW-Platteville (3-3-2/1-0-1) launched its first. However, the Pioneers' initial shot put them in the lead as Kim Schneckloth booted a passed ball from Anna Allen into the goal at the 76:25 mark of play.
The two 10-minute overtime periods went scoreless as goalkeepers Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) of UW-Oshkosh saved four shots and Kaitlyn Wideman of UW-Platteville three. Walder finished the contest with five saves and Wiedeman 14. The Pioneers also recorded two other saves courtesy of their defenders.
UW-Oshkosh settled for the tie despite compiling advantages of 32-8 in shots and 15-1 in corner kicks. A total of 12 players attempted shots for the Titans, including Kiley Hauck (Fr. • Hubertus) who fired five shots and Strieker and Carly Roiniotis (Fr. • Pleasant Prairie) who dispatched four each. UW-Platteville was led by the three shots of Allie Metcalfe and the two of Larissa Fraley.

Defending WIAC Champion Pointers Shut Out Titans
  Defending WIAC champion UW-Stevens Point registered its fourth straight shutout in a 5-0 women's soccer victory over UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday (Sept. 15) in Stevens Point.
UW-Stevens Point (4-1/2-0 WIAC), which hasn't allowed a goal since its 3-0 season-opening loss to Wheaton College (Ill.) on Sept. 1, jumped ahead of UW-Oshkosh (2-3/1-1 WIAC) on Vicki Bieschke's goal just 3:44 into play. Bieschke headed her shot into the net off a feed from Kirsti Nickels.
The Pointers went to intermission leading 2-0 on Jackie Spees' unassisted goal at the 25:00 mark of the match.
UW-Stevens Point upped its offensive attack in the second half with goals by Nickel, Sam Greer and Andrea Peiffer. Greer and Nickels scored the final two goals for the Pointers with unassisted strikes at the 65:04 and 81:20 marks of the contest, respectively. Peiffer gave UW-Stevens Point a 3-0 lead when she scored off a pass from Spees at the 54:35 mark of the match.
UW-Oshkosh, which suffered its third straight loss to UW-Stevens Point, attempted 10 shots. The Titans were led by the three shots of Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa) and the two of Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard). Erny, Fordellisi, Lindsey Collette (Fr. • Green Bay), Lauren Heinen (Fr. • Greendale) and Alaina Landi (So. • Waukesha) each had one shot on goal.
UW-Stevens Point tallied 20 shots, including 11 shots on goal. Spees led the Pointers with four shots, while Greer tallied three and Nickels, Peiffer, Sarah Gugel and Kelsey Majerus two each. UW-Stevens Point was on the short end of a 5-4 count in corner kicks.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) stopped six shots in the loss. UW-Stevens Point goalkeeper Liz Hunter blocked five shots en route to the victory.

Walder Receives WIAC Defensive Player Of The Week Award
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) was named by the WIAC as its Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches held Sept. 7-13.
Walder recorded her second career shutout as UW-Oshkosh opened WIAC play with a 1-0 overtime win over UW-La Crosse on Sept. 12.
Walder guarded the UW-Oshkosh goal for all 91:58 of the match. She saved 14 of UW-La Crosse's 33 shots, including eight in the second half. The Titans won the contest on Carmen Fiordellisi's (So. • Howard) goal in the extra session.
Walder’s performance helped UW-Oshkosh win its WIAC opener for the third time in four years and snap a three-match losing streak to UW-La Crosse.
Rachel Nerison of UW-Eau Claire was selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Week.

Fiordellisi gave UW-Oshkosh (2-2/1-0 WIAC) the thrilling triumph when she followed Jessica Erny's (So. • Wauwatosa) pass with a shot into the net at the 91:58 mark of the contest. The goal, Fiordellisi's third of the season, allowed UW-Oshkosh to win its WIAC opener for the third time in four years.
The match was scoreless through regulation despite advantages of 32-13 in shots and 8-2 in corner kicks for UW-La Crosse (1-1-1/0-1 WIAC). UW-Oshkosh owned two of the three shots launched in overtime.
UW-Oshkosh had nine players attempt shots, including Erny, Fiordellisi, Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha), Anna Guilfoil (So. • Madison), Alaina Landi (So. • Waukesha) and Nicole Strieker (Fr. • Janesville) who fired two each. UW-La Crosse had 10 players attempt shots, including Lindsay Wilde who launched 14 and Amy Warren who dispatched five.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) saved 14 shots to record her second career shutout. The Titans also had a defender notch a save.
Sagan Pizzingrilli stopped eight shots while guarding the UW-La Crosse goal.

Titans Appear On Philadelphia Television Station
The first trip for the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to the state of Pennsylvania was a notable one as several players appeared on a live local television show in Philadelphia.
UW-Oshkosh left for Pennsylvania on Sept. 4 and played matches in Haverford against Wilkes University on Sept. 5 and Haverford College on Sept. 6. Before returning to Oshkosh on Sept. 7, the team traveled to Philadelphia to see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.
During a walk in downtown Philadelphia, UW-Oshkosh team members saw a news reporter and chef Steve McGrath of Morton's Steakhouse making crab cakes outside of the Fox Television station. Team members then strolled over to the area and wound up appearing on "Good Day Philadelphia."

Fords Bounce Back From Early Deficit To Defeat Titans
  Haverford College (Pa.) answered an early deficit with three straight goals to defeat UW-Oshkosh, 3-2, in a women's soccer match held Sunday (Sept. 6) in Haverford, Pa.
UW-Oshkosh (1-2) jumped to a quick 1-0 lead on Carmen Fiordellisi's (So. • Howard) goal just 3:25 into play. Fiordellisi's second goal of the season was assisted by Nicole Strieker (Fr. • Janesville).
Haverford College, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, rallied back with three goals to end the first half. The Fords received goals at the 16:02 point of the match from Katie Van Aken, 41:11 mark from Erin Dowling and 44:10 time from Katie Bigay. Van Aken's score was assisted by Erin Verrier and Dowling's by Allie Chen.
Haverford College (2-0-1) held its two-goal advantage until UW-Oshkosh's Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa) fired a shot into the net at the 70:55 mark of the match. Erny's first goal of the season was unassisted.
Advantages of 16-7 in shots and 10-5 in corner kicks went in favor of Haverford College. The Titans had six players take shots, including two shots on goal by Erny and one by both Fiordellisi and Nikki Mohr (Fr. • Crystal Lake, Ill.). Eight different players fired shots for the Fords, including shots on goal by Dowling and two by Van Aken.
Both goalkeepers went the distance, with Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) saving five shots for UW-Oshkosh and Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds two for Haverford College.
UW-Oshkosh opens its eight-match WIAC schedule on Saturday (Sept. 12) at UW-La Crosse.

Lady Colonels Handcuff Titans
  Julissa Reed accounted for all of the scoring as the Wilkes University (Pa.) women's soccer team shut out UW-Oshkosh, 2-0, on Saturday (Sept. 5) in Haverford, Pa.
Reed tallied her goals in the second half, with the first one coming off a pass from Ashley Graham at the 58:12 mark of the contest. Reed's second goal came off a serve from Lyndsay Ellis at the 75:43 mark of the match.
The first half went scoreless as strong defense limited the teams to a total of just six shots. Wilkes University, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, owned four of those shots and four of the period's five corner kicks.
UW-Oshkosh (1-1) finished the match with seven shots, including three by Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha) and one each by Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa), Kiley Hauck (Fr. • Hubertus), Nikki Reed (So. • Muskego) and Nicole Strieker (Fr. • Janesville). Wilkes University (2-0) fired eight shots, including four by Reed and two by Taryn Hallowell.
The Titans, who were playing their first match in the state of Pennsylvania, posted a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) played all 90 minutes and saved three shots.
The Lady Colonels had two players protect their goal, with Sarah Shetler stopping two shots in the first half and Brooke Keister blocking four shots in the second.
