The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team travels outside the United States for the first time when it visits Costa Rica in May to play a series of exhibition matches.

UW-Oshkosh, which compiled a 12-7-2 record and appeared in the NCAA Division III Championship last fall, will spend nine days of training in Costa Rica from May 14-22. The Titans will play three matches against Costa Rican teams and tour the cities of San Jose, Arenal and Jaco Beach.

"The team is really excited about this international trip to Costa Rica," said UW-Oshkosh head coach Erin Leinweber. "We've been planning the trip for over a year and now the last pieces are falling into place."

UW-Oshkosh will spend the first three days of its trip in San Jose before making two-day visits to both Arenal and Jaco Beach. The Titans then return to San Jose for the final two days of their excursion. UW-Oshkosh is scheduled to play matches on May 16 and 21 in San Jose and May 17 in Arenal.

"This trip will be a fabulous experience for the student-athletes and coaching staff," added Leinweber. "This international experience will allow the players to grow as students, athletes, and as people. It's an experience that I hope my players will cherish for a long time."

Leinweber selected GoPlay Sports Tours, a well-established educational travel agency based in Boston, Mass., to organize her team's trip.

UW-Oshkosh opens its 2007 season on Sept. 1 by hosting St. Norbert College at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Three members of the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team have received NCAA Division III All-Central Region honors by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

The 2006 all-region squad consisted of 33 players, with 11 named to each of the three teams. The selections were led by the five representatives of UW-Eau Claire and the four of Wheaton College (Ill.).

UW-Oshkosh had midfielder Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) picked to the first team and defender Dana Gudel (Jr. • Middleton) and forward Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) voted to the third. John receives her third NCAA Division III All-Central Region accolade after being selected to the second team in 2004 and the third team in 2005. It was the first all-region award for both Gudel and Hoffman.

John started all 21 matches for UW-Oshkosh this past year and totaled four goals and seven assists for 15 points. She scored one goal and had an assist in a pair of UW-Oshkosh victories, a 4-1 win over UW-La Crosse on Oct. 14 and a 6-1 WIAC Tournament triumph over UW-Stout on Oct. 31.

John started all 20 contests for the Titans in 2005 and counted three goals and five assists for 11 points. She tallied match-winning goals against UW-Stevens Point and Concordia University. In 2004, John started all 22 matches for UW-Oshkosh and recorded five goals and eight assists for 18 points. In 2003, John started all 21 games for the Titans and accumulated five goals and three assists for 13 points.

John, a three-time All-WIAC selection, started all 84 matches that she played in for the Titans the past four seasons. Her career totals featured 17 goals, a school-record 23 assists and 57 points.

Joining John on the first team were Becca Mackenzie of Grinnell College (Iowa), Annie Borton and Grace King of Macalester College (Minn.), Maria Iaizzo, Allie Rivard and Becky Westbrook of UW-Eau Claire, Meghan Foweler-Finn of Washington University (Mo.) and Bethany Barton, Laura Koontz and Taryne Lee of Wheaton College.

Gudel started all 21 matches for UW-Oshkosh this past season and spearheaded a defense that produced seven shutouts and allowed just 22 goals. Offensively, the All-WIAC first team selection tallied two goals and one assist for five points. Gudel scored both of her goals in UW-Oshkosh's 4-2 loss to UW-Eau Claire on Oct. 7.

Last year, Gudel started 19 of the 20 matches that she played in for UW-Oshkosh and scored one goal. In 2004, Gudel started eight of the 20 contests that she played in for the Titans and registered one goal.

Hoffman started 20 of the 21 matches that she played in for UW-Oshkosh this past season and compiled nine goals and five assists for 23 points. She led the Titans in both goals and points. Hoffman scored two goals and dished off an assist in UW-Oshkosh's 6-2 victory over St. Norbert College on Sept. 1. Her four match-winning goals included the decisive tally in the Titans' 6-1 WIAC Tournament victory over UW-Stout.

Last year, Hoffman started 14 of the 20 contests that she played in for UW-Oshkosh and totaled five goals, including three game-winning tallies, and five assists for 15 points. In 2004, Hoffman started 19 of the 22 games that she played in for the Titans and counted six goals and six assists for 18 points.

Named the Defensive Most Valuable Player was Dana Gudel (Jr. • Middleton). She also captured the team's Leadership Award.

Sharing the Newcomer of the Year Award were Amy Konieczka (Fr. • Milwaukee) and Cassie Loehr (Fr. • Mt. Calvary).

UW-Eau Claire swept three additional WIAC awards as Iaizzo was named the Player of the Year, Meisinger the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Sean Yengo the Coach of the Year.

The first appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship for the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team was a disappointing one as the Titans dropped a 1-0 decision to Loras College (Iowa) on Wednesday (Nov. 8) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (12-7-2) out-shot Loras College (11-7-2) by an 18-4 count, but the Duhawks managed to pull out the first-round victory thanks to a late second-half goal.

Loras College, which advances to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship for the fifth consecutive season, tallied its only goal when Alex Clesen took a pass from Katie Ryan and scored on a breakaway with 10:21 left in the match. Clesen's third goal of the year came on the Duhawks' lone shot of the second period.

UW-Oshkosh dominated the flow of play as it totaled six shots in the first half and 12 in the second. Erin Rickard (Fr. • Cedarburg) led the Titans with four shots, while Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) and Cassie Loehr (Fr. • Mt. Calvary) totaled three each.

Loras College, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, counted its four shots on two by Ryan and one by both Clesen and Holly Wilson.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah) allowed the lone Loras College goal and played the entire match without having to make a save.

Loras College goalkeeper Torey Murray stopped nine UW-Oshkosh shots, including six in the second half, to earn her ninth shutout of the season. She entered the match with a 0.71 goals against average.

UW-Oshkosh, which received one of the 22 at-large selections to this year's NCAA Division III Championship, had its sixth 12-plus win season in the past seven years end with its loss to Loras College.

Loras College, appearing in its sixth NCAA Division III Championship, moves to a second round contest with Washington University (Mo.) on Saturday (Nov. 11) in St. Louis, Mo. Washington University, the sixth-ranked team in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, takes a 16-2 record into Saturday's match after receiving a bye in the first round.

UW-Oshkosh will be represented in the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship for the first time in school history when it hosts Loras College (Iowa) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 8) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh, which began its women's soccer program in 1993, received one of the 22 at-large selections to this year's NCAA Division III Championship. The Titans compiled a 12-6-2 record during the regular season, including a second-place 6-2 mark in the WIAC. UW-Oshkosh, 92-38-10 in its last 140 games, finished second in last week's WIAC Tournament after losing a 3-0 decision to UW-Eau Claire in the championship match.

Loras College earned one of the 38 automatic selections to the NCAA Division III Championship after defeating Simpson College (Iowa) on penalty kicks (3-1) in the championship match of last week's Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Tournament. Loras College tallied a 10-7-2 record during the regular season, including a second-place 7-1 mark in the IIAC.

Loras College is appearing in its sixth NCAA Division III Championship, all in the last six years. The Duhawks advanced to the second round of last year's tournament, defeating Illinois Wesleyan University, 1-0, before losing to the University of Chicago (Ill.), 2-0.

Wednesday's match will be the first between the two schools, with the winner advancing to meet Washington University (Mo.) at 4 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 11) in St. Louis, Mo. The Bears tallied a 16-2 record during the regular season, including a first-place 7-0 mark in the University Athletic Association.

Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites on Nov. 17-18 or Nov. 18-19. Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the semifinals on Nov. 24-25. All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., will be the site of this year’s semifinals and final.

For the first time in history, two WIAC women's soccer teams will participate in the NCAA Division III Championship. Joining UW-Oshkosh in the event will be WIAC regular season and tournament champion UW-Eau Claire. UW-Eau Claire (21-2) is making its second appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship, both in the last two years. The Blugolds will host a four-team regional on Nov. 11-12 at Bollinger Fields, playing its first match against Concordia College (Minn.).

Tickets for UW-Oshkosh's match against Loras College are priced at $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for students. Children under the age of three will be admitted free of charge.

Liz Kooistra scored once in each half as top-seeded UW-Eau Claire defeated second seeded UW-Oshkosh, 3-0, in the championship match of the WIAC Women’s Soccer Tournament held Saturday (Nov. 4) in Eau Claire.

UW-Eau Claire, the 18th-ranked team in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, captured its second straight WIAC Tournament title with the victory. Last year, UW-Eau Claire rallied to edge UW-Oshkosh, 2-1, in the tournament’s championship contest. The winner of the WIAC Tournament receives the league’s automatic bid to the 60-team NCAA Division III Championship.

Maria Iaizzo gave UW-Eau Claire (21-2) a 1-0 advantage when she scored her team-leading 15th goal of the season on a pass from Emily Meisinger at the 12:05 mark of the match.

UW-Eau Claire went ahead 2-0 when Kooistra scored on an assisted goal by Allison Smith at the 25:49 mark of the contest.

Kooistra sealed the victory for the Blugolds when she scored on an assisted goal by Amy Smith at the 88:11 mark of the game. The goal was Kooistra’s second of the match and 12th of the season.

UW-Oshkosh, which also suffered a 1-0 setback to UW-Stevens Point in the championship match of the 2004 WIAC Tournament, was limited to just eight shots by a stingy UW-Eau Claire defense. Jessica Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) led the Titans with three shots, while five other players added one each, including Erin Rickard (Fr. • Cedarburg) who hit the crossbar with her boot in the closing seconds. UW-Oshkosh (12-6-2) had three corner kicks in the match.

UW-Eau Claire finished the contest with 20 shots and four corner kicks. Iaizzo paced the Blugolds with six shots, while Kooistra added five and Amy Smith three.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah) stopped eight shots and allowed all three UW-Eau Claire goals. UW-Eau Claire goalkeeper Allie Rivard halted four shots to earn her third shutout of the year.

UW-Eau Claire, which defeated the Titans by a 4-2 score earlier this year, holds a 16-3-1 advantage over UW-Oshkosh in the all-time series.

UW-Oshkosh qualified for the championship match of this year’s WIAC Tournament with wins of 6-0 over seventh-seeded UW-Stout in the quarterfinals and 1-0 over third-seeded UW-Stevens Point in the semifinals.

Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay) sailed a corner kick into the goal for the only score of the match as UW-Oshkosh edged UW-Stevens Point, 1-0, in a semifinal round contest of the WIAC Women's Soccer Tournament held Friday (Nov. 3) in Eau Claire.

The victory advances second-seeded UW-Oshkosh (12-5-2) to a championship round debate against top-seeded and nationally-ranked UW-Eau Claire (20-2) at 1 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 4) in Eau Claire. UW-Eau Claire, ranked 18th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, qualified for its match with UW-Oshkosh by ousting fourth-seeded UW-River Falls (10-7-2), 2-0, on Friday in the tournament's other semifinal.

The winner of the WIAC Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

UW-Oshkosh was in control during the first half, outshooting the Pointers, 7-1, and getting six corner kicks. The Titans had three consecutive corner kicks with under 15 minutes left in the opening period. The first appeared headed into the goal, but was deflected off an UW-Stevens Point defender out of bounds. The second was headed away and eventually led to another corner kick that Matzke perfectly curled inside the far post for her sixth goal of the season.

UW-Stevens Point (12-4-2) came to life in the second half with numerous scoring chances. The Pointers totaled five shots in the period and had several other quality passes into the box that were poked away by a stingy UW-Oshkosh defense. UW-Stevens Point had none of its shots on goal, but had its best scoring opportunity come when Liz Kidd fielded a ball near the top of the penalty box with under 20 minutes left and blasted a shot that bounced off the crossbar.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 12 shots, including two each by Matzke, Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) and Cassie Loehr (Fr. • Mt. Calvary). The Titans had all six of their corner kicks in the first half.

UW-Stevens Point's six shots included two by both Jennisa Koch and Kaylee Weise. UW-Oshkosh’s defense did an outstanding job at limiting the number of touches for Weise, who entered the contest with 10 goals and nine assists over her last five matches. UW-Stevens Point launched all three of their corner kicks in the second half.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah) earned her third shutout of the season without having to make a save. UW-Stevens Point goalkeeper Meredith DeCaluwe blocked five shots and allowed the lone UW-Oshkosh goal.

It was another tight match between the two WIAC rivals, who have played four straight 1-0 contests. In fact, the last seven meetings have been decided by one goal or less. UW-Stevens Point, which nipped UW-Oshkosh, 1-0, earlier this year at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium, leads the all-time series with the Titans by a 14-2-1 tally.

UW-Oshkosh is appearing in the championship game of the WIAC Tournament for the third straight season. The Titans have lost by one goal in both of their previous two visits to the final, 1-0 to UW-Stevens Point in 2005 and 2-1 to UW-Eau Claire last year.

UW-Eau Claire holds a 15-3-1 advantage over UW-Oshkosh in the all-time series. Earlier this year, the Blugolds posted a 4-2 win over the Titans at Bollinger Fields in Eau Claire.

UW-Oshkosh scored twice in the first six minutes of action and coasted to a 6-1 victory over UW-Stout in a quarterfinal round contest of the WIAC Women's Soccer Tournament held Tuesday (Oct. 31) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The victory advances the second-seeded Titans (11-5-2) to a semifinal round match against third-seeded UW-Stevens Point (12-3-2) at 2 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 3) in Eau Claire. UW-Stevens Point registered a 5-0 win over sixth-seeded UW-Whitewater (6-11-1) on Tuesday to qualify for its game with UW-Oshkosh.

Other quarterfinal round results on Tuesday had top-seeded UW-Eau Claire (19-2) defeat eighth-seeded UW-Platteville (12-7-2), 3-0, and fourth-seeded UW-River Falls (10-6-2) edge fifth-seeded UW-La Crosse (9-5-3), 1-0. UW-Eau Claire, which captured the WIAC's regular season championship, will host UW-River Falls at 11 a.m. on Friday in the tournament's other semifinal round contest.

The championship match of the WIAC Tournament is scheduled for Saturday (Nov. 4) at 1 p.m. in Eau Claire. The winner of the WIAC Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

UW-Oshkosh, which eliminated UW-Stout from the WIAC Tournament for the third consecutive year, took a quick 1-0 lead when Erin Rickard (Fr. • Cedarburg) scored on an assisted goal by Mindy Vinje (Jr. • Madison) just 2:14 into play. The goal was Rickard's seventh of the season.

UW-Oshkosh doubled its advantage just a few minutes later as Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) sent an unassisted shot into the goal at the 5:38 mark of the match. Hoffman's goal was her team-leading ninth of the season.

UW-Stout (5-11) sliced its deficit to 2-1 when Ali Sonsteby scored on an assisted goal by Kate Rindahl and Carli Rindt at the 13:39 mark of the contest.

The Titans added two more goals before intermission as Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay) and Katlyn Goggins (Fr. • Cedarburg) scored at the 24:16 and 30:37 marks of the game, respectively. Matzke counted her fifth goal of the season on a free kick from 30 yards out, while Goggins tallied her second goal of the year on a serve from Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay). John counted her 23rd career assist on Goggins' goal to establish an UW-Oshkosh record.

UW-Oshkosh's scoring continued in the second half as John and Cassie Loehr (Fr. • Mt. Calvary) tallied their fourth goals of the season. John scored on an assist by Hoffman at the 57:49 mark of the match, while Loehr scored on an assist by Bailey Williams (Fr. • Omro) at the 70:38 mark of the contest.

UW-Oshkosh out-shot UW-Stout, 24-11, and posted an 8-0 advantage over the Blue Devils in corner kicks. Hoffman had five shots and Loehr four to lead the Titans, while Sonsteby had three to pace the Blue Devils.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Kerri Wettstein (Fr. • Kimberly) stopped four shots while allowing the lone UW-Stout goal. The Blue Devils split their goalkeeper duties as Anna Peterson played the first half and Jessica Halverson the second. Peterson had three saves while permitting four UW-Oshkosh goals. Halverson had four saves while yielding a pair of UW-Oshkosh goals. UW-Stout also had a defender record a save.

UW-Oshkosh, which captured a 1-0 victory over UW-Stout earlier this year, leads the all-time series with the Blue Devils by an 11-2-4 count.

Northern Michigan University snapped the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team's five-match winning streak with a 3-1 victory on Friday (Oct. 27) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Northern Michigan University (15-2), ranked 22nd in the NCAA Division II by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, led 1-0 at intermission as Casey Wilcox scored on an assisted goal by Andrea Lebert at the 31:53 mark of the match.

The Wildcats put the game away early in the second half with a pair of unassisted goals just four minutes apart. Northern Michigan University took a 2-0 lead on Joanna Klilunen's goal at the 49:00 mark of the contest and increased its advantage to 3-0 on Renee LeBlanc's goal at the 53:04 mark of the match.

UW-Oshkosh (10-5-2), playing its final regular season home contest, cut its deficit to 3-1 when Beth Kutzke (So. • Beaver Dam) scored on an assisted goal by Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) at the 72:24 mark of the game. The goal was Kutzke's fourth of the season.

Northern Michigan University out-shot UW-Oshkosh, 10-6. LeBlanc fired four shots for the Wildcats, while six different players launched one shot each for the Titans. Both teams attempted three corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh had two players guard its goal as Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah) participated in 73:20 of the match and Kerri Wettstein (Fr. • Kimberly) 16:40. Bera stopped two shots and allowed all three Northern Michigan goals, while Bera blocked one shot. Northern Michigan University goalkeeper Kara Music halted four shots and yielded the lone UW-Oshkosh goal.

Friday's match was the third between UW-Oshkosh and Northern Michigan University. The Wildcats also defeated the Titans by scores of 3-1 in 1998 and 1-0 in 1999.

UW-Oshkosh returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 31) by hosting UW-Stout (5-10) in a quarterfinal round contest of the WIAC Tournament. The match begins at 4 p.m. at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team had seven different players score goals as it posted a 7-0 victory over North Park University (Ill.) on Tuesday (Oct. 24) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (10-4-2) tallied five of its goals in the second half, including three within a span of six minutes. It was the third time this season that the Titans had scored six or more goals in a match.

Jessica Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) gave UW-Oshkosh a quick 1-0 when she took a pass from Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) and scored just 9:21 into play. The goal was Hoffman's first of the season.

The Titans went to intermission leading 2-0 after Erin Rickard (Fr. • Cedarburg) scored on an assisted goal by Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) at the 23:09 mark of the game. It was the sixth goal of the year for Rickard.

UW-Oshkosh began its second-half scoring parade with goals by Mandy Kajian (Fr. • Oshkosh), Maggie Hoffman and Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay) at the 53:46, 55:46 and 59:47 marks of the match, respectively. Assists belonged to Dana Gudel (Jr. • Middleton) on Maggie Hoffman's goal and Maggie Hoffman on Matzke's goal. Maggie Hoffman leads the Titans with eight goals this season, while Kajian has five and Matzke four.

UW-Oshkosh closed its scoring with goals by Katlyn Goggins (Fr. • Cedarburg) and Beth Kutzke (So. • Beaver Dam) at the 63:37 and 68:53 marks of the contest, respectively. Goggins first collegiate goal came on an assist by Lindsey Cordes (So. • Winona, Minn.). The goal for Kutzke was her third of the season.

UW-Oshkosh out-shot North Park University (4-11-2), 25-5, and compiled a 6-0 advantage over the Vikings in corner kicks. The domination helped the Titans extend their winning streak to five matches, including the last three by a shutout.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Kerri Wettstein (Fr. • Kimberly) earned the shutout after halting four North Park University shots. North Park University goalkeeper Sarah Primozic counted 12 saves and allowed all seven UW-Oshkosh goals.

Tuesday's match was the first between the two schools. Erin Leinweber, who is in her third season as UW-Oshkosh's head coach, was North Park University's head coach from 2001-03.

Due to a 7 p.m. kickoff of a high school football playoff game at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium between Green Bay East and Oshkosh West, the start time for Tuesday's (Oct. 24) women's soccer match between North Park University (Ill.) and UW-Oshkosh has been moved to 3:45 p.m. from 4 p.m.

UW-Oshkosh enters Tuesday's contest with a 9-4-2 record after posting a 2-0 win over UW-Platteville on Oct. 20.

North Park University brings a 4-10-2 record into Tuesday's match after registering 1-0 victory over Millikin University (Ill.) on Oct. 21.

Mindy Vinje (Jr. • Madison) and Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) scored second-half goals to lift the UW-Oshkosh women’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over UW-Platteville on Friday (Oct. 20) in Platteville.

Playing in front of an UW-Platteville-record 512 fans, UW-Oshkosh broke a scoreless contest when Vinje registered her second goal of the season at the 47:22 mark of the match. Vinje scored on a scramble in front of the UW-Platteville goal after a corner kick by the Titans’ Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay).

UW-Oshkosh, which has gone 6-1-1 in its last eight matches, added an insurance goal off John’s penalty kick at the 70:36 mark of the contest. The goal was John’s third of the year.

The Titans just missed at scoring in the first half as two shots by Amy U’Ren (Sr. • Mt. Horeb) and one by Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) hit the crossbar.

UW-Oshkosh (9-4-2/6-2 WIAC) out-shot UW-Platteville (10-5-2/1-4-2 WIAC), 26-5, and posted an 8-2 advantage over the Pioneers in corner kicks. Hoffman tallied seven shots to lead the Titans, while Erin Rickard (Fr. • Cedarburg) counted four. UW-Platteville’s shot total featured three by Ashly Hamilton and two by Allie Metcalfe.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah) stopped three UW-Platteville shots to earn her second shutout of the season. UW-Platteville goalkeeper Laurie Trifone blocked six UW-Oshkosh shots and allowed both of the Titans’ goals.

UW-Oshkosh has won all 14 of its matches with UW-Platteville, including the last 11 by a shutout.

Mandy Kajian (Fr. • Oshkosh) tallied a goal and an assist as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team battled through a steady rain to defeat UW-Whitewater, 3-0, on Wednesday (Oct. 18) in Whitewater.

The victory extended UW-Oshkosh's winning streak over UW-Whitewater to seven matches and gave the Titans the opportunity to host a quarterfinal round contest of the WIAC Tournament on Oct. 31 at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. Official WIAC Tournament pairings and match times will be announced on Oct. 28.

UW-Oshkosh (8-4-2/5-2 WIAC) took an early 1-0 lead when Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) scored on an assisted goal by Kajian in the fourth minute of play. The goal was Hoffman's team-leading eighth of the season.

UW-Oshkosh added a pair of goals in the second half to submerge the Warhawks (6-8-1/3-3-1 WIAC). The Titans posted a 2-0 lead when Kajian scored on an assisted goal by both Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay) and Cassie Loehr (Fr. • Mt. Calvary) in the 50th minute of play. UW-Oshkosh went ahead 3-0 on Beth Kutzke's (So. • Beaver Dam) unassisted goal in the 75th minute of action. It was the fourth goal of the year for Kajian and the second for Kutzke.

UW-Oshkosh registered advantages of 13-2 in shots and 3-2 in corner kicks over UW-Whitewater. Kajian and Jenny Drott (So. • Mukwonago) both fired three shots to lead the Titans, while Mary Donohoo launched three to pace the Warhawks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Kerri Wettstein (Fr. • Kimberly) lowered her goals against average on the season to 0.38 by counting her fifth shutout of the year. Wettstein blocked two UW-Whitewater shots, one in each half. UW-Whitewater goalkeeper Sam Neely made five saves while allowing all three UW-Oshkosh goals.

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team out-shot UW-La Crosse, 16-3, on its way to a 4-1 victory over the Eagles on Saturday (Oct. 14) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (7-4-2, 4-2 WIAC) had four different players score goals, including Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) and Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) who registered unassisted tallies at the 19:52 and 30:02 marks of the match, respectively. It was the sixth goal of the season for Hoffman and the second for John.

UW-Oshkosh also received goals from Cassie Loehr (Fr. • Mt. Calvary) and Jenny Drott (So. • Mukwonago). Loehr scored on an assisted goal from Danielle Grable (Fr. • Neenah) at the 56:17 mark of the match, while Drott scored on an assisted goal from John with just eight seconds (89:52) left in the contest. It was the third goal of the year for Loehr and the first for Drott.

UW-La Crosse (5-4-3/1-3-2 WIAC) took a 1-0 lead when Mandy Rue scored on an assisted goal by Erin Wilson just 8:20 into the match.

UW-Oshkosh, which counted eight shots in each half, posted a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Titans' four goals were the most allowed by UW-La Crosse in 20 matches.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Kerri Wettstein (Fr. • Kimberly) allowed one goal and earned the victory without having to make a save. UW-La Crosse goalkeeper Amanda Clark stopped six shots while yielding all four UW-Oshkosh goals.

The Titans have won six of their last seven matches with the Eagles to cut their deficit in the all-time series to 11-6.

Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay) and Cassie Loehr (Fr. • Mt. Calvary) scored goals 134 seconds apart in the first half to lead the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Concordia University on Tuesday (Oct. 10) in Mequon.

UW-Oshkosh (6-4-2) took a 1-0 lead when Matzke registered an unassisted goal at the 15:55 mark of the match. The goal was Matzke's third of the season.

The Titans extended their advantage to 2-0 when Loehr scored on an assisted goal by Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) at the 18:09 mark of the game. It was the second goal of the year for Loehr.

UW-Oshkosh out-shot Concordia University (6-7), 19-5, to remain unbeaten in six matches with the Falcons. Jenny Drott (So. • Mukwonago) fired six shots to lead UW-Oshkosh's attack, while Loehr launched five and Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) four. The Titans compiled a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Kerri Wettstein (Fr. • Kimberly) didn't have to make a save as she earned her second career shutout. The Titans had one save in the match as a defender blocked a Concordia University shot in the second half.

Concordia University goalkeeper Daria Klotz halted five shots while yielding both UW-Oshkosh goals.

Maria Iaizzo and Amy Smith scored second-half goals to help the nationally-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team down UW-Oshkosh, 4-2, on Saturday (Oct. 7) in Eau Claire.

The contest was tied 2-2 before Iaizzo took a pass from Jessica Millard and scored her 11th goal of the season at the 50:03 mark of the match. UW-Eau Claire (12-1/6-0 WIAC) added an insurance goal when Smith took a header from Millard and headed the ball into the net at the 77:01 mark of the game.

UW-Eau Claire, ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, grabbed an early 1-0 lead when Allison Muer scored on an assisted goal by Iaizzo just 4:05 into play.

UW-Oshkosh (5-4-2/3-2 WIAC) evened the count at 1-1 when Dana Gudel (Jr. • Middleton) took a corner kick from Erin Rickard (Fr. • Cedarburg) and headed the ball into the goal at the 9:14 mark of the match.

UW-Eau Claire took a 2-1 lead when Iaizzo scored on an assisted goal by Liz Kooistra at the 22:44 mark of the game. The Blugolds' one-goal advantage lasted just 106 seconds as Gudel scored an unassisted goal at the 24:30 mark of the contest. Gudel's goal was her second of the match and of the season.

UW-Eau Claire, which leads the all-time series with UW-Oshkosh by a 17-3-1 tally, out-shot the Titans, 15-8. Both teams took three corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah) stopped seven shots while surrendering all four goals. UW-Eau Claire split its goalkeeping duties between Liz Weirick and Allie Rivard. Weirick halted one shot and allowed two goals in the first half, while Rivard blocked two shots and kept the Titans silent in the second.

The two UW-Oshkosh goals marked the first time this season that UW-Eau Claire had allowed more than one goal in a match.

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team scored in the second minute of play and held on for a 2-1 victory over UW-River Falls on Saturday (Sept. 30) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (5-3-2/3-1 WIAC) took a quick 1-0 lead when Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) dribbled around a UW-River Falls defender and scored an unassisted goal just 88 seconds into the match. The goal was her fifth of the season.

UW-River Falls (5-2-2/2-1 WIAC) had an opportunity to tie the contest midway through the first half, but Betsy Straub's shot bounced backwards after hitting the cross bar. The Falcons went to intermission trailing 1-0.

UW-Oshkosh extended its lead to 2-0 when Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay) sent a 20-yard free kick into the goal at the 69:15 mark of the match. It was the second goal of the season for Matzke.

UW-River Falls cut its deficit to 2-1 when Jen Terry took a pass from Ashley Peterson and scored at the 71:41 mark of the game. The goal was Terry's third of the season.

UW-Oshkosh out-shot UW-River Falls, 12-6, and posted a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. The performances helped the Titans snap the Falcons' four-match winning streak.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah) and UW-River Falls goalkeeper Emily Stieler both made five saves in the match.

UW-Oshkosh has won its last two matches against UW-River Falls, but trails the all-time series with the Falcons by a 9-6-1 tally.

The UW-Oshkosh and College of St. Benedict (Minn.) women's soccer teams scored first-half goals within 20 seconds of each other and settled for a 1-1 double overtime tie on Sunday (Sept. 24) in St. Joseph, Minn.

The College of St. Benedict (4-1-1) registered the first goal of the match when Allyson Draxler took a pass from Tina Lisk and scored 26:14 into play. The goal was just the sixth allowed by the Titans in their last eight contests.

The Blazers celebrated their 1-0 advantage for only 20 seconds as the Titans tied the score on a goal by Mandy Kajian (Fr. • Oshkosh) at the 26:34 mark of the match. Kajian's third goal of the season was assisted by Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay).

And that is how the score remained the rest of regulation and through two additional overtime periods.  Both teams had their opportunities, with UW-Oshkosh (4-3-2) posting advantages of 17-10 in shots and 5-4 in corner kicks. The Titans took all four shots in the first overtime period, while the Blazers took all three shots in the second overtime frame.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah) stopped four shots during the 110-minute match, while the College of St. Benedict goalkeeper Shannon Strohm halted 12.

The College of St. Benedict leads the all-time series against UW-Oshkosh by a 6-1-1 tally.

Erin Rickard (Fr. • Cedarburg) scored three times as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team trounced UW-Superior, 8-0, on Saturday (Sept. 23) in Superior.

The Titans (4-3-1/2-1 WIAC) tallied two of their goals in the first half and six in the second to improve their all-time record against the Yellowjackets (4-4/0-3 WIAC) to 14-0. UW-Oshkosh has outscored UW-Superior, 88-7, in those 14 contests.

Following an own goal 22 minutes into play, UW-Oshkosh took a 2-0 lead when Mindy Vinje (Jr. • Madison) scored an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute of action. The goal was Vinje's first of the season.

Rickard highlighted UW-Oshkosh's second-half scoring parade by sending shots into the goal in the 65th, 73rd and 84th minute of play. She has a team-leading five goals on the season. Earning assists on Rickard's three goals were Katlyn Goggins (Fr. • Cedarburg), Beth Kutzke (So. • Beaver Dam) and Amy U'Ren (Sr. • Mt. Horeb).

UW-Oshkosh took a 3-0 lead when Kutzke took a pass from Jessica Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) and scored her first collegiate goal in the 50th minute of competition. The Titans extended their advantage to 4-0 on Michelle John's (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) unassisted goal in the 52nd minute of play and 5-0 on Maggie Hoffman's (Jr. • Waukesha) assisted goal from Kutzke in the 63rd. It was the fourth goal of the season for Maggie Hoffman and the first for John.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 22 shots, compared to just three for UW-Superior. The Titans had a 14-1 advantage in corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Kerri Wettstein (Fr. • Kimberly) stopped three shots to record her first collegiate shutout. UW-Superior goalkeeper Emily Cochran allowed eight goals and stopped 11 shots.

In a match that featured plenty of scoring opportunities, it was UW-Stevens Point that made the most of its chances as the Pointers pulled out a 1-0 women’s soccer victory over UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday (Sept. 20) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Anna Van Stippen scored the only goal of the match in the 24th minute and the UW-Stevens Point defense took over from that point, limiting the Titans to just nine shots. UW-Stevens Point goalkeeper Meredith DeCaluwe thwarted several UW-Oshkosh scoring opportunities with six saves.

DeCaluwe made one of the biggest plays of the match in the opening minutes when UW-Oshkosh's Mandy Kajian (Fr. • Oshkosh) had a breakaway, but DeCaluwe stuffed the shot near the top of the penalty box.

The Pointers then took advantage of one of their first scoring chances as Kaylee Weise split two defenders with a through ball to Van Stippen, who lofted a shot to the near post over UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah).

Van Stippen also made one of the biggest defensive plays of the match, clearing a ball from in front of the goal's mouth later in the first half. DeCaluwe was also a big part of the defense, cutting off several balls near the top of the box to stop long runs by the Titans (3-3-1/1-1 WIAC) and prevent potential breakaways.

The Pointers had several great offensive chances of their own, missing a close shot in the closing seconds of the first half and scoring a second half goal that was ruled offsides.

UW-Stevens Point (5-1-1/1-0 WIAC) out-shot the Titans, 14-9, and had five of their seven first-half shots on goal. Bera finished the match with five saves.

UW-Stevens Point improved to 14-1-1 in its last 16 meetings with UW-Oshkosh, avenging a 1-0 home loss to the Titans last season.

Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay) scored in the 72nd minute of play as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team opened its WIAC schedule with a 1-0 victory over UW-Stout on Saturday (Sept. 16) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Matzke helped UW-Oshkosh (3-2-1/1-0 WIAC) snap a two-match losing streak by taking a pass from Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha) and scoring at the 71:35 mark of the contest. The goal was Matzke's first of the season.

UW-Oshkosh out-shot UW-Stout (1-4/0-1 WIAC), 31-2, and posted a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Hoffman fired nine shots at the UW-Stout goal to lead the Titans, while Mandy Kajian (Fr. • Oshkosh) launched five and Matzke four. Shannon Hermes and Carli Rindt both took a shot at the UW-Oshkosh goal for UW-Stout.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Kimberly) stopped two UW-Stout shots to record her first career shutout. UW-Stout had its goalkeepers total 23 saves as Jessica Halverson counted 19 and Anna Peterson four.

Saturday's match was the 16th between the schools, with UW-Oshkosh advancing its advantage in the all-time series to 10-2-4.

The Wheaton College (Ill.) women's soccer team dominated the statistics, but in the end had to earn a 1-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday (Sept. 13) in Wheaton, Ill.

UW-Oshkosh (2-2-1) had its best scoring opportunity just 150 seconds into play when Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay) attempted a penalty kick that Wheaton College goalkeeper Kristin Eggert blocked with her leg to keep the score tied at 0-0.

A few minutes later, Wheaton College's Sarah Richardson tapped the ball into the back of the net on a double-assist from Laura Koontz and Taryne Lee. Richardson's goal at the 7:27 mark of the contest was her team-leading sixth of the season.

Wheaton College limited UW-Oshkosh to just four shots. The Titans had only one shot in the second half as they dropped their second straight 1-0 decision. UW-Oshkosh lost 1-0 to St. Olaf College (Minn.) on Sept. 10.

Wheaton College (3-1), ranked 25th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, took 29 shots and posted a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Bera (Fr. • Neenah) had 14 saves in the contest, while Eggert had one.

Wheaton College leads the all-time series with UW-Oshkosh by a 6-0-1 count.

Kelsey Watt's first-half goal provided the margin of victory as the St. Olaf College (Minn.) women's soccer team edged UW-Oshkosh, 1-0, on Sunday (Sept. 10) in Northfield, Minn.

Watt's match-winning score came when she headed a corner kick from Christina Mills into the net at the 34:19 mark of the match. It was the second goal of the season for Watts.

UW-Oshkosh (2-1-1) out-shot St. Olaf College (3-0), 13-7, including 9-4 in the first half. Maggie Hoffman (Jr. • Waukesha), Cassie Loehr (Fr. • Mt. Calvary) and Erin Rickard (Fr. • Cedarburg) all fired two shots for the Titans.

Making her first collegiate start, UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Kerri Wettstein (Fr. • Kimberly) recorded three saves. St. Olaf College goalkeeper Anna Feigum halted seven shots en route to her second shutout of the season.

UW-Oshkosh's loss was its first in three meetings with St. Olaf College. Overall, the setback was just the Titans' 16th in its last 67 matches (44-16-7 record).

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team battled back to earn a 1-1 double overtime tie with nationally-ranked Macalester College (Minn.) on Friday (Sept. 8) in St. Paul, Minn.

Kelsey Speer put Macalester College (3-0-1) ahead 1-0 when she took a serve from Rose Betzler and scored at the 34:48 mark of the match.

UW-Oshkosh (2-0-1) sent the contest to overtime on Maggie Hoffman's (Jr. • Waukesha) unassisted goal at the 77:21 mark of the game. The goal was Hoffman's third of the season.

Both teams fired five shots in overtime, with UW-Oshkosh launching four in the first extra session and Macalester College three in the second.

Macalester College, ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, compiled a 17-13 advantage in shots. UW-Oshkosh had an 11-9 advantage in corner kicks.

Macalester College extended its unbeaten streak to 31 matches (27-0-4) with the tie. The Scots are also 20-0-1 in their last 21 home contests.

It was the first meeting between the two schools.

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team scored twice within a five-minute span of the second half to pull away and defeat Carroll College, 3-1, on Sunday (Sept. 3) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The victory came in UW-Oshkosh's 2006 home opener.

UW-Oshkosh (2-0), which is predicted to finish second in this year's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference race, broke a 1-1 deadlock on an own goal at the 67:31 mark of the contest. The score came when a Carroll College defender inadvertently knocked the ball into the goal off a corner kick from UW-Oshkosh's Erin Rickard (Fr. • Cedarburg).

Less than five minutes later (71:26), the Titans increased their advantage to 3-1 as Rickard scored on an assist from Bailey Williams (Fr. • Omro). The goal was Rickard's second of the match, following a successful shot that gave the Titans a 1-0 lead at the 32:47 mark of the contest. Rickard's inaugural goal was assisted by Michelle John (Sr. • Whitefish Bay).

Carroll College (0-1), which is picked to finish second in this year's Midwest Conference derby, scored its lone point on a goal by Kari Scheelk at the 58:42 mark of the match.

UW-Oshkosh, now 30-10-4 in its last 44 matches, had advantages of 18-7 in shots and 5-2 in corner kicks over Carroll College. The Titans out-shot the Pioneers by a 12-3 count in the second half.

UW-Oshkosh extended its advantage to 4-0 on goals by Hoffman and Danielle Grable (Fr. • Neenah) at the 19:52 and 24:56 marks of the match, respectively. Amanda Matzke (So. • Green Bay) recorded an assist on both goals.

St. Norbert College (0-1) sliced its deficit by scoring at the 31:27 and 33:06 marks of the contest. Jessica Schadrie scored the first goal for the Green Knights, while Stephanie Gatyas tallied the second.

UW-Oshkosh scored a pair of unassisted goals in the second half as Kajian and Cassie Loehr (Fr. • Mt. Calvary) found the back of the net with shots at the 50:43 and 68:56 marks of the match, respectively.
