Stampfli, Tyriver Headline Titans' All-WIAC Selections
For the first time in history, two individuals share
both the Position Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year honors to lead the
20 individuals voted to the 2006 All-WIAC Women's Softball Team by the league
coaches.
UW-Eau Claire's Mallory McKinney and UW-Oshkosh's Ronessa Stampfli were named
co-Pitchers of the Year, while the Blugolds' Casey Leisgang and the Titans' Whitney
Tyriver were voted co-Position Players of the Year.

second to the Blugolds in the league ledger with a 10-4 mark and finished runner-up
to UW Eau Claire at the conference tournament.

career strikeouts rank as the second-highest total in league history. She tossed
a no-hitter against Virginia Intermont College on March 16 and compiled a streak
of 24 consecutive scoreless innings pitched.

14 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI contests. She has led off a game with a
home run five times this season and her 11 home runs set a Blugold single-season

Rain Washes Out Titans' Doubleheader
With Yellowjackets
Rain has cancelled Sunday's (April
30) doubleheader in Superior between the UW-Oshkosh and UW-Superior women's softball
teams.
It is unlikely that the two squads will make-up
their twinbill as UW-Superior is scheduled to host UW-Eau Claire on Monday (May
1) and the WIAC Tournament begins on Friday (May 5) in Menomonie.
If UW-Oshkosh doesn't reschedule its games with
UW-Superior, the Titans will enter the WIAC Tournament with a 23-15 record.

Titans Take Both Games From Red Hawks
|
Lyndsey Allen let her bat do all the talking Wednesday
(April 5) as the UW-Oshkosh women's softball team extended its season-high winning
streak to seven, sweeping Ripon College 3-1 and 5-1 at Tracy Field.
"I try not to think about anything when I step to the plate," Allen
said. " I go out there relaxed. I try not to hit for power and obviously
I am in the three spot for a reason."
Allen finished the doubleheader 4-for-6, including a key RBI triple in the top
of the seventh scoring Whitney Tyriver on a full count with two outs giving the
Titans (12-10, 2-0) a 3-1 lead.
During pre-game warm ups Allen noticed something in Sarah LeMahieu's batting stance.
Allen's advice paid off as LeMahieu crushed a three-run game-winning home run
in the bottom of the 6th off of Andrea Knorr (2-3).
"I haven't been hitting well the past few games," LeMahieu said. "I
wanted to do something for the team. (Lyndsey) Allen came up and talked to me
before the game and said keep your hands up. I saw a good pitch and just drove
it."
After playing a long doubleheader at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tuesday
afternoon, the Titans came out a little tired, but Ronessa Stampfli (9-5) kept
on ticking. Stampfli pitched nine innings, allowing one run on eight hits to go
along with 14 strikeouts while picking up the win in game two. Amy Sullivan (3-5)
won the opener.
"Stampfli is a stud. She will get in trouble and get out of it," Titans
coach Cindy Suess said. "I thought Sullivan pitched pretty well. We did a
good job both offensively and defensively. The first game we hit the ball well.
The second game it took us a while to get going and once you start hitting the
ball it's contagious."
The Titans started out slow in game two as Knorr retired her first 11 batters
until Allen knocked down a single as the Red Hawks (5-8) jumped out to a quick
1-0 lead.
"I came in nervous. I knew I had to be at the top of my game and it made
me throw harder," Knorr said. "Stampfli was pitching just as well as
I was and I knew I had to top her. I really wasn't rattled until LeMahieu hit
the home run."
