Host UW-Oshkosh and three of its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) rivals will be among eight teams competing at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Women's Volleyball Midwest Regional this weekend in Kolf Sports Center.

The single-elimination Midwest Regional features seven matches, with four scheduled for Thursday (Nov. 10), two for Friday (Nov. 11) and one for Saturday (Nov. 12). The winner of the Midwest Regional will join seven other regional champions in the quarterfinal round of the 60-team NCAA Division III Championship on Nov. 17 in Salem, Va.

Joining UW-Oshkosh in the Midwest Regional are the Titans' WIAC associates UW-Eau Claire, UW-Platteville and UW-Whitewater. The tournament also features Carthage College and Elmhurst College (Ill.) of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), Lakeland College of the Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) and St. Norbert College of the Midwest Conference (MWC).

UW-Whitewater is making its 18th NCAA Division III regional tournament appearance (1986-89, 1992-2005), while its the 15th for Elmhurst College (1982-88, 1992, 1998, 2000-05), 10th for UW-Oshkosh (1990-91, 1993-97, 2000-01, 2005), eighth for UW-Eau Claire (1987-89, 1993-94, 1996-97, 2005), fourth for Lakeland College (2002-05), St. Norbert College (1993, 2002, 2004-05) and UW-Platteville (1983, 1992, 1997, 2005) and second for Carthage College (1990, 2005).

Competition begins Thursday at 1 p.m. as WIAC regular season co-champion UW-Whitewater (34-4) plays CCIW Tournament champion Elmhurst College (31-9). That contest will be followed by a 3:30 p.m. match between UW-Eau Claire (28-4) and LMC regular season and Tournament champion Lakeland College (23-15). Thursday's activity concludes with games at 6 p.m. between WIAC Tournament champion UW-Platteville (28-7) and MWC regular season and Tournament champion St. Norbert College (30-6) and 8:30 p.m. between WIAC regular season co-champion UW-Oshkosh (35-4) and CCIW regular season champion Carthage College (30-6).

Second round matches in the Midwest Regional will be held Friday at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

If Carthage College defeats UW-Oshkosh, the Lady Reds will play the winner of the contest between Lakeland College and UW-Eau Claire at 4:30 p.m. The 7 p.m. game will feature the winner between Elmhurst College and UW-Whitewater and St. Norbert College and UW-Platteville.

If UW-Oshkosh defeats Carthage College, the Titans will play the winner of the contest between Lakeland College and UW-Eau Claire at 7 p.m. The 4:30 p.m. game will feature the winner between Elmhurst College and UW-Whitewater and St. Norbert College and UW-Platteville.

The championship match of the Midwest Regional will be held Saturday at 7 p.m.

Ticket prices for each day are $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for senior citizens and $3.00 for students.
